Dear Steve,
Some additional column ideas for you that I would like to share with you include the following:

(2) A column could feature skin cancer patients in Dallas who maintain that tattoos on their body increased their risk of, and played a role in, their contracting skin cancer.
(3) Is there any counterpart to the Guardian Angels group in Dallas, a self-identified "good guys" group that seeks to combat youth gangs and crime in Dallas? A column could highlight one such Guardian Angels group in Dallas. Is that group on good terms with the Dallas Police Department.
(4) The recent news that Austin Police Chief Art Acevedo is being considered for the position of Chief of Police in Dallas is galling to some observers, including myself. I would like to respectfully point out that Chief Acevedo through one of his assistants has forbidden me from ever again writing to himself---this despite that I myself am obviously a very honorable and law-abiding citizen. In fact, I have no criminal-conviction record, as the Austin Police Department (APD) is fully aware. I maintain that that type of hostile and unethical conduct by a Chief of Police in Austin, Texas, indicates that his own integrity record is very lacking. It also indicates to me that Austin Police Chief Acevedo is not fully devoted to enforcement of anti-noise-pollution laws in Austin. I had myself complained in writing to Chief Acevedo and APD about noise pollution that's been determined by an ear, nose, and throat medical specialist in Austin, Dr. David Tobey, to have inflicted significant and permanent damage on my own hearing capacity.
... (7) Steve, I'm sure you are painfully aware that many Texans of today associate the city of Dallas with lots of corruption in government. Your own daily newspaper has informed Texans, including myself, about many corruption scandals of that type, including in Dallas Independent School District. For a different angle to the typical "corruption"-theme column, I'd like to suggest that you write a column in praise of ONE total public institution you've identified in Dallas where corruption and dishonesty and violation of the law reportedly never occurs.
... (18) I have heard that there are now many different types of Mafias, or organized crime groups, found in Texas. They include the Hispanic Mafia, the Russian Mafia, the Italian-American Mafia, etc. A column by yourself could reflect on the changing image of the Mafia in Dallas that has resulted in part from growing ethnic diversity in Dallas. Is there an Asian Indian Mafia and a Pakistani Mafia, for instance? How do organized-crime experts advice that Dallas residents identify a Mafia person of today in Dallas, in order to avoid having any relationship with that Mafia figure and to report that Mafia figure to the appropriate law-enforcement agency.
(19) Steve, what do you think of Dallasites who tell prospective roommates that "I don't do any illicit drugs at all," and who then surprise those roommates by consuming marijuana during the first month of their rooming together---AFTER they have both signed the lease on an apartment they both are sharing.
(20) Steve, I have heard that medical doctors are notorious for their addiction to licit drugs. Do you know of any organization that seeks to help medical doctors overcome an addiction to one or more licit drugs?
(21) Steve, what is your personal reaction to a waitress or waiter in a restaurant who greets you at your dining table while wearing a nostril ring? Do you find that your appetite for having a meal inside that restaurant diminishes considerably?
Steve, I will be very pleased if any of these column ideas prove to be useful to you in your column-writing pursuits for "The Dallas Morning News." I hope to hear from you soon in regard to whether I have come up with at least one column idea that appeals to you.
