HAD I BEEN IN NEW YORK CITY TODAY, I FEEL SURE THAT I WOULD HAVE OVERHEARD THE FOLLOWING COMMENTS:

---"I find it very odd that you don't know exactly how many miles long Long Island is. To me, any educated person should be able to tell me immediately and in very specific terms exactly how long is Long Island."

---"Are you suggesting that I'm negligent for not enrolling in a course at NYU on the Geography of Long Island?"

--"Speaking of length, can you tell me the name of the longest public beach on Long Island? If you don't know the answer to that question, this proves to me that you are hopelessly ignorant."

---"The other day I was 100 percent sure I saw a famous name type standing along Avenue of the Americas. But then I hit a complete blank. I felt sure I had seen him on a comedy TV series, but I could not recall the series. I wanted to go up to him and say, 'So tell me the name of your series.'"

--"That would be a huge mistake. He might be a serial killer who feels guilty about it, and he replies defensively by shouting at me: 'You're CRAZY if you think I'll tell you the names in my series of victims! So keep your big mouth shut or I'll add you to my list!"

--"Can you imagine being a priest here in New York these days. You show up in church to take a confession, then the guy asks you if you have enough time available to listen to him confess to more than one murder?"

--"That reminds me. I myself have never heard of any priest here who, based on a confession he got from a member of his church, provided NYPD with a crime tip that led to the arrest of a serial killer. If there is a priest who did that, it could make for a great Hollywood movie, with the priest as the obvious hero in that movie!"

---"If I were a priest, I might ask anyone who confesses to being a serial killer whether any of his victims as of that time had been priests. If I get 'no' for an answer, I would find that reassuring. But if he instead replies with, 'No, Father, and if I ever do add a priest to my list, you will be the first to know about it,' I would lose sleep at night trying to figure out if his comment had been a thinly veiled death threat against me. Was he insinuating that I would be right there at the scene of the crime, as the intended murder victim? Or was he indicating that I would somehow be an eyewitness to this serial killer's murder of someone else and then be expected by the killer to remain silent about what I had just seen? This is what would torment me all night as I lie alone on my bed trying to get the 8 hours of sleep I need for conducting Mass the next day."

---"What I need is not an efficiency apartment, but a mini-efficiency or ultra-mini-efficiency. This would keep my heating and cooling bill as low as possible. Do you know of any realtor who specializes in helping New Yorkers to find a mini-efficiency less than 200 square feet in size that they can then call their home sweet home?"

--"What you're describing sounds more like a jail cell than anyplace where a free human being would actually want to live. Possibly you could make a deal with a jail superintendent so you could pay for temporary housing at his jail during slow periods there. The only disadvantage would be that you would find your neighbors to be a lot rougher and meaner than you would want. They would resent you for having a key to your own rental unit, and they would also resent you for being able to leave your jail cell any time of
the day or night that you like."

--"I don't see how you can find the space for a bathtub or shower if your home-sweet-home mini-efficiency is only 200 square feet.  So how do you plan to clean yourself in the morning as you prepare to head off to your workplace in Manhattan? Do you plan to use sanitizer wipes to clean your underarms and genitals each morning at 6 a.m.? Do you really think you'd fool your boss into believing that you had taken a shower, if you did that?"

---"One big advantage to a mini-efficiency is that I can't do much damage if I sleep-walk while unconscious at nighttime. I wouldn't have enough space in my apartment for valuable fragile items such as vases or statues, so I couldn't possibly bump into something that is breakable. The most I could bump into would be my refrigerator. But since it's a mini-efficiency, my refrigerator would be so tiny that that type of very minor collision wouldn't do any damage."

---"You remind me that I need to start up a new magazine here entitled 'Mini-Efficiency Lifestyles of Manhattan'. I feel sure I could make a million from a publishing venture like that. It would offer invaluable tips on how to make the most of every square inch, or every square centimeter, of their rental unit. My magazine would praise bonsai gardening, for instance, since bonsai plants take up less space. They are dwarfs, and they are also very attractive."

--"Personally, I'd rather organize a Mini-Efficiency Tenants Union here in Manhattan that champions the consumer rights and legal rights of New Yorkers who reside in an efficiency unit that's less than 300 square feet in size. It would be very trendy, and pretty soon Philadelphia or Boston would copy us with a similar tenants union exclusively for mini-efficiency tenants."

--"I love the idea of an annual tradition of an Indoor Bonsai Gardening show here in New York that offers New Yorkers a chance to find an indoor plant that will actually fit inside their apartment unit. This is one way in which New York can benefit from a cultural trend that Tokyo has already excelled at."

---"Every time I attend the grand opening of yet another new restaurant here in New York, I am asking myself just how many months will this one last? If I enjoy the food there, I try to tell all my friends and coworkers and relatives and neighbors about the place. My goal is to help prevent a doomsday scenario for that new restaurant. This is how I would define philanthropy as a New Yorker. I try to help influence other consumers' opinions toward adoring each of the restaurants that I enjoy the most. It's enlightened self-interest, since I would be very upset if any fave of mine suddenly closes down on me."

--"I get so devastated whenever a favorite restaurant of mine closes down that I sometimes host a Memorial Service in honor of that restaurant. I will attempt to replicate the foods and beverages of that restaurant  and serve them to all guests at the Memorial Service event. Each person attending the event would be invited to stand up in front of the group and say what he loved the most about that now-deceased eatery, what their favorite entree was there, and who their favorite waiter or waitress or manager there was."

--"I'm so grateful I have finally found the right underarm deodorant product for myself. It's 'Irish Spring' deodorant from Speed Stick. What's nice about Irish Spring is that it gives the message to everyone that I'm celebrating the spring season in Ireland on a year-round basis, so I'm naturally very cheerful and lucky at all times. I've got the Luck of the Irish in me, you might say. This is the subliminal statement that my body fragrance gives off to anyone who stands near me while I'm waiting for the subway. This is especially helpful in January,  when I'm trying to figure out why I didn't study negative numbers during my elementary-school years. It's either minus 7 degrees outside or minus 15 degrees outside, and all of that is new material to me as an adult, since my math teacher in elementary school never taught me about negative temperatures in everyday mathematics. I don't remember my math classes after elementary school, so I'm not sure whether negative numbers were ever taught to me during my post-elementary school years, as I call them."

TEXAN CITIES AND TEXAN TOWNS ARE ALL EXCLUDED FROM A RECENT ONLINE LISTING OF AMERICA'S 50 BEST CITIES FOR NATURE-LOVERS

https://www.tpl.org/blog/new-study-50-best-cities-optoutside

The above-cited link is to a report published in 2018 entitled, "New study: the 50 best cities to #OptOutside" The online report on that study's findings is written by a non-profit group named "The Trust for Public Land".

The 2018 report contained results of a recent study that identified the 50 best cities of the United States. San Francisco, Boston, and New York City are among the largest cities that made the top 50 list.

The Texan cities of Houston, San Antonio, El Paso, Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, Lubbock,
Amarillo, Tyler, Corpus Christi, and Beaumont are all conspicuously absent from the list of top 50 cities and towns. And all other municipalities of Texas are also absent from that "top 50" list.

For the recent study, cities and towns in the U.S. were ranked based on the following criteria:

"We examined how many acres of public land residents of the 200 largest cities can reach within a 60-minute drive—since for working parents, or families without cars, anything further away is essentially out of reach. We also counted up how many people in each city have a neighborhood park within a 10-minute walk of home.

From that analysis, we identified the 50 best American cities to #OptOutside."

THE BEAUTY OF THE FREEDOM OF ASSOCIATION CLAUSE OF THE BILL OF RIGHTS OF THE U.S. CONSTITUTION:

FREEDOM OF ASSOCIATION ALSO IMPLIES, BY DEFINITION, THE FREEDOM OF NON-ASSOCIATION WITH PERSONS AND ENTITIES THAT YOU YOURSELF DO NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE WITH.

During your leisuretime, the portion of your own life in which you enjoy the greatest control over your own living conditions and circumstances, each of you enjoy the legal right and human right under the United States Constitution to lawfully EXCLUDE from your own life any and all persons fitting the following profiles:

---any and all persons who verbalize profane speech or obscene speech on a frequent basis.

---any and all persons who indicate that they "support" or "endorse" thought-control projects.

--any and all persons who state or indicate that they "support" or "endorse" so-called "arranged marriages" or "compelled speech" or "hostage-takings" or "slavery" or "compelled relationships".

---any and all persons who state or indicate to you that they oppose your own legal and human right to enjoy strictly-mutual-consent and law-abiding personal relationships with persons of a wide variety of ages, including legal-status-adult persons significantly younger in age than yourself.

--any and all persons who state or indicate to you that because you are "too critical" of a cited subculture, in their opinion, you yourself are not appropriate as a prospective official or unofficial "Big Brother" for a male youth age 8 or older, in their opinion, when you know for a fact that when you previously resided in OTHER cities of the United States, you WERE in fact very successful as an official or unofficial "Big Brother" for an 8-year-old or 9-year-old male youth.

--any and all persons who fail to fully acknowledge the legal right of another person to permanently exclude themselves from their own life in a law-abiding manner.

--any and all persons who either state or indicate that they directly participate in or support or condone sadomasochistic or "S&M"-style "relationships" involving the physical beating or physical whipping or use of a leash and collar to control or subjugate of one or more of the "partners" in that type of "relationship", or involving the medically-injurious and forceful insertion of the human fist per se into the anus of a cited "sex partner" at any time or in any context.

---any and all persons who state or indicate that they seek to censor yourself, since they don't like your own beliefs or ideas or personal values or religion.

--any and all persons who state or indicate that because they do not like your own religious or political beliefs or personal values or personal priorities or personality, you are "expected" by them to move to another city or county or U.S. state, or to a foreign nation, or they believe that because they themselves dislike your own beliefs, you have "forfeited" your own legal right to continue residing in the city or county or U.S. state where you are currently residing.

--any and all persons who state or indicate that they have a low estimation of yourself as a human being, with my oldest brother, Kent Neal McMillan of Central Texas, having helpfully volunteered to me in my own life in 1990 or 1991, during a long-distance phone call I made from my rental-apartment unit in Sweetwater, Texas, to Kent's and his wife's home in Austin, that Kent at that time was himself personally aware of one male adult person residing in the New York City area---an individual whom Kent directly and on his own volition cited to me by that individual's first and last name---who "has a low estimation of you, John," as Kent helpfully disclosed to me in that long-distance phone conversation.

---any and all persons who state or indicate to you that they believe that you alone should be subjected to medically-injurious year-round noise pollution on a continuous and year-round basis, noise pollution of a type that no other human being inside your city or county of residence is also being subjected to on a continuous and year-round basis.

---any and all persons who state or indicate that they do not support your own Freedom of Association rights that the U.S. Constitution fully protects for you.

--any and all persons who exhibit a defiance of or contempt toward your own legal and Constitutionally-protected human right to set your own priorities in your own life.

--any and all persons who state or indicate that they are significantly misanthropic and dislike most people.

--any and all persons who claim to be a "personal friend" of yours, but who never once on any occasion ever verbalized any statement to you at any time about any noteworthy human trait or noteworthy conduct of yours that they themselves admired or liked.

--any and all persons who claim to be a "personal friend" of yours during a period in which they never make any unsolicited phone call to you and never on their own initiative send you any friendly e-mail note or friendly letter.

---any and all persons who indicate or state that they are affiliated with or employed by or employ an organized-crime group.

--any and all persons whom you yourself suspect of exhibiting alleged possible criminal intent or harmful intent that allegedly victimizes yourself.

--any and all persons who state or indicate to you that they themselves are not honest, or that they themselves are not law-abiding.

---any and all persons who subject you to false allegations on a frequent or habitual basis.

--any and all persons who state or indicate to you that they do not regard you as being law-abiding at present, or that they believe or suspect you "may commit a crime in the future", when you yourself are very sure that consistent and year-round obedience of the law is definitely a great strength of yours as a human being.

--any and all persons  who state or indicate to you that they suspect that you "might commit a sex crime at some point in your future" or that "you may have committed a sex crime in your past", when you know for a fact that you yourself are NOT a perpetrator of any sex crime, and that you have never been a perpetrator of ANY sex crime.

--any and all persons who state or indicate to you that they will NEVER under any circumstances call the police or the sheriff's office or the Federal Bureau of Investigation to report possible evidence about another person being victimized by crime that they themselves either directly observe or have heard about from others.

--any and all persons who state or indicate to you that they do not support law-enforcement.

--any and all persons who state or indicate to you that under no circumstances will they ever agree to permit a cited law-enforcement agency to conduct or order a forensic DNA-trace medical exam on their own body.

--any and all persons who label you as "Fascist" or "Nazi" without citing any evidence at any time that you yourself are at all physically violent, or that you advocate or finance or order the infliction of physical violence toward anyone, or that you yourself have violated the law in any noteworthy way, or that you yourself allegedly fail in any way to acknowledge the legal right of others to pursue lifestyles in compliance with the law that somehow offend you or repulse you or are dismaying to you.

--any and all persons who state to you that because you called the police to report possible evidence that you had sniffed what you believed to have been marijuana or cocaine that appeared to have emanated from a cited rental apartment unit or home in your city of residence in a context when you yourself were NOT physically present inside that apartment or home, this proves that you yourself are a "Fascist" or "Nazi", in their opinion.

--any and all persons who sell marijuana or any other illicit drug, or who have any other role in illicit-drug-trafficking.

---any and all persons who consume tobacco products.

---any and all persons who consume marijuana.

---any and all persons who consume cocaine or any other illicit drug.

--any and all persons who state or indicate to you that they are either heavy drinkers or are binge drinkers who get drunk on a frequent basis.

--any and all persons who state or indicate to you that they are addicted to spending money on gambling.

--any and all male persons who have beards or a significant amount of facial hair on their face.

---any and all persons who have tattoos on their own body.

---any and all persons who wear nostril-rings or tongue-rings on their own body, and any and all adult male persons who wear a significant amount of jewelry on their own body.

--any and all persons who exhibit defiance of or contempt toward your own view that sex-change operations are completely unnecessary, or your own view that sex-change operations are significantly medically injurious to and very cruel toward the male person being castrated at his own request in that type of scenario.

--any and all persons who talk about sex or sexual identity on a frequent basis, or who exhibit a contempt toward or defiance of your own very emphatic view and your own religious belief and political belief that 99 percent or more of all relationships in life are, in fact, non-sexual or platonic in nature.

---any and all persons who exhibit a contempt toward or defiance of your own Freedom of Religion and Freedom of Speech legal rights and Constitutional rights.

---any and all persons who state or indicate that they do not support full privacy rights for yourself.

---any and all persons who fail in any way to fully and strongly support your own legal right and human right to enjoy a full seven or eight hours of uninterrupted, un-harassed, un-injured, un-raped, and revitalizing sleep on a nightly and year-round basis.

---any and all persons who state or indicate to you that they do not support or fully honor your own goal of enjoying the best possible medical longevity and creatively vital lifespan in your own life.

---any and all persons who subject you to verbalized death threats.

---any and all persons who subject you to anonymous communications that also violate your own privacy rights.

---any and all persons who slander you or libel you.

---any and all persons who fail to acknowledge your own legal right and Constitutional right under the U.S. Constitution to yourself in a law-abiding and civil manner verbalize criticism of any cited "subculture" or "community" or "city" or "county" or "U.S. state" or "foreign nation" or "institution" or "government entity" or "civic group" or "religious group" or "atheist group" or "anti-religious group" or attorney or business entity or media company or person or group of persons.

POSSIBLE NEED FOR A NEW ONLINE WEBSITE THAT OFFERS 10 TANGIBLE REASONS WHY INDIVIDUALS RESIDING IN PORTLAND, OREGON, LAS VEGAS, NEVADA, OR ANY OTHER AMERICAN CITY WITH A TRADITIONALLY HIGH SUICIDE RATE, SHOULD NOT THEMSELVES COMMIT SUICIDE

https://www.businessinsider.com/most-suicidal-us-cities-2011-7

The above link is to a 2011 online blog, written by Gus Lubin and Vivian Giang, that was entitled, "The Ten Most Suicidal Cities in America". That blog was published online on July 21, 2011.

The Business Insider website is copyrighted most recently in 2019.

The mailing address for Insider Inc. is: One Liberty Plaza, 8th Floor, New York City, New York 10006.

That company's e-mail address: hello@insider-inc.com

SHOULD THERE BE A WHISTLE-BLOWING RESEARCH INSTITUTE AND WHISTLE-BLOWERS HALL OF FAME MUSEUM?

I myself would be very pleased to see courageous vigilance of that nature --- "whistle-blowing", as it is often called in the United States --- be assigned very high priority for factual research projects and a "Hall of Fame" museum.

Among the questions that researchers at an American Whistle-Blowing Institute might pose are:
---Under which circumstances are Americans the most likely to report to a law-enforcement agency or work supervisor or business owner suspicions of theirs about allegedly improper conduct by a coworker or work supervisor at their own workplace?
---Which societal reforms have resulted from courageously vigilant reports by American Whistle-Blowers?
to be continued

A QUESTION I WANT TO POSE TO MY DULY-ELECTED STATE LAWMAKER, REP. GINA HINOJOSA OF AUSTIN, TEXAS:

Rep. Hinojosa,
Do you know the industry in our state in which the highest percentage of all persons classified as full-time employees in that particular industry are not themselves covered by a comprehensive health insurance plan?

IF I WERE AN ASSISTANT EDITOR OF 'THE NEW YORK TIMES', I WOULD ALSO OFFER REPORTERS THESE POSSIBLE STORY IDEAS:

--President Trump appears to have gained lots of weight over the course of his first term of office as Head of State. Are there any observers of the President who maintain that he is at risk of contracting diabetes or having a heart attack?

The most recent U.S. President to sustain a heart attack while in office was President Eisenhower in the early 1950s. How did the heart attack sustained by Mr. Eisenhower affect his own ability to perform his official duties as Chief of State?

---Is there any evidence that the percentage of all Americans who pursue entrepreneurialism has increased significantly during Donald Trump's first term of office as U.S. President? If not, what does this indicate about President Trump's style of leadership, when Mr. Trump has long presented himself as being the "patron saint" of entrepreneurialism in America.

---Has President Trump during his first term in the White House ever once expressed concern about a fresh-water river or fresh-water lake in the U.S. where the water is so polluted that the river or lake is "dying", or where the water is so polluted that it is unsafe for Americans to swim in that river or lake, or where the water is so polluted that it cannot be safely used as a source of tap water?

---Are there theologians and members of the clergy in the United States who maintain that President Trump's professions of being a leading exponent of the Christian religion are sharply contradicted by his acknowledged hatred of, and vindictive or punitive style toward, those whom he regards as being "enemies" or "critics" of himself? Those religious observers of Mr. Trump might point out that the Christian theology would advise anyone, including a Chief of State, to "love" his "enemies". Has Mr. Trump ever even addressed this issue, that he appears to defy his cited Christian heritage through his repeated and consistent refusal to "love" his critics or "enemies"?

--Who is Donald Trump's leading religious adviser? A profile on "Donald Trump's leading Christian adviser" might be intriguing.

---Are there any advisers to President Trump who have privately discussed with him a scenario in which it might be preferable for this entire country if he were to simply resign from office, rather than subject our entire nation to the very time-consuming impeachment process?

---Has any observer of the Trump Presidency noted a possible irony in his strong emphasis as a businessman on establishing and operating resort hotels in numerous foreign nations. That emphasis conveys the message that Mr. Trump admires foreign countries and wants Americans to embrace those foreign countries through Americans' role as tourists spending money overseas. As Chief of State, however, Mr. Trump's repeated and very emphatic message is that he DISTRUSTS OR DISLIKES A VARIETY OF FOREIGN NATIONS, and that he wants Americans to spend their money on products and services that originate in the "U.S.A.", rather than in a foreign nation.

---Are there any social psychologists or sociologists who maintain that Xenophobia is one of the leading traits of the Donald Trump Presidency? If so, how do psychologists and sociologists explain that possibly widespread or rampant Xenophobia in Mr. Trump's style as Chief of State?

--Do any psychologists or social psychologists see irony in the fact that globally-infamous Xenophobe Donald Trump is in fact married to a woman who immigrated to the United States from a foreign nation. If Mr. Trump is urging everyone in the U.S. to "buy American", then how can he explain his own decision to "import" a foreign citizen as his own chosen bride in his personal life?

---Is there any case in which President Trump has cited anti-nepotism laws as a reason for not hiring, or as a reason for his deciding against appointing, any given applicant to a position of employment in the Executive Branch of the U.S. Government? If so, how can that case be reconciled with abundant evidence that Mr. Trump himself has presided over flagrant nepotism in the White House that allegedly or possibly involves a son of his or

son-in-law Jared Kushner or Mr. Trump's wife, First Lady Melania Trump.

---Which fashion designer deserves or claims primary credit for the fashion statement that the First Lady in the White House makes to the entire world? Does Mrs. Trump have any "deal" or "contract" with that fashion designer, and if so, is that involvement fully in compliance with the law?

---Are there those who maintain that all the daily outrage over President Trump's policies and conduct has protected the current Vice President, Mr. Pence, from being subjected to public scrutiny he would have otherwise faced? Do any observers also claim that Mr. Pence has come across as "angelic" when compared with Mr. Trump, and that this very "halo effect" has possibly contributed to a misleading perception by many that Mr. Pence is "innocent and good" during this period in which his immediate supervisor, Mr. Trump, is being labeled as "guilty and bad".

---When was the most recent federal law approved by Congress that provides criminal-law penalties on anyone subjecting a resident of or visitor to the United States to a thought-control project? How effective has enforcement of any such law been? Has President Donald Trump ever at any time during his first term ever once stated that he personally opposes thought-control projects?
One nationally-famous Boston-based attorney did comment to me on the telephone from his law office several years ago, during a long-distance phone call I made to his law office from Austin, Texas, that he as an attorney believes there was in fact a federally-sponsored thought-control project in the Boston area that allegedly occurred in the 1980s.

Dear National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) Officials in Washington, D.C.,

I am a former resident of the Boston area of Massachusetts and Worcester, Massachusetts, who has resided in Texas on a continuous and uninterrupted basis ever since January 1988.

I am writing you today in regard to the following statement at your current official website: "NCSL has partnered with State Net/LexisNexis to provide legislators and legislative staff access to a 50-state+ searchable legislation database containing the full text of every bill in the 50 states, the District of Columbia and Congress for the current session. Summaries of Puerto Rico bills also are available."

I would appreciate it if you would please inform me as soon as possible whether my two duly-elected state legislators from Austin who directly represent me in the Texas Legislature, State Rep. Gina Hinojosa and State Senator Kirk Watson, also have direct and year-round access through your NCSL online informational services to a searchable 50-state legislation database that refers to any and all bills that were sponsored or approved or debated, respectively, by legislators in each of the 50 U.S. states at any time in the most recent 12-month period, two-year period, five-year period, 10-year period, 20-year period, 30-year period, or 40-year period, for instance.

As a public-policy-minded constituent of Rep. Hinojosa and Senator Watson, I would be very pleased to learn from you (if true) that both Rep. Hinojosa and her also-influential colleague Senator Watson have full and very prompt year-round access on an ongoing basis to any and all such legislative records over a multi-decade period that refer to bills and laws that were proposed or debated or approved or not approved or vetoed or overturned by court order in any of the 50 U.S. states, including Texas.

Depending on what your reply on this is, that factual information from your noble organization could be very reassuring to me as a law-abiding and gainfully-employed, permanently drinking-alcohol-free, lifelong-tobacco-free, staunchly-anti-marijuana-minded, single adult Anglo gentleman here in Austin.

Sincerely and Best Wishes,

John Kevin McMillan,

IF I WERE A COLLEGE STUDENT TODAY, I WOULD:

---Add to my own schedule book for each week the times when each of my current professors or instructors or teaching assistants have promised that they will be available in their office for one-to-one meetings with students. I would then make a point of meeting at least once per semester with each of my instructors during their designated periods for inviting visits from students. I would also make a point of jotting down questions in advance for each instructor of mine that I could draw from during those one-to-one consultations inside their faculty office or teaching assistant office.

---Make a point of studying the history of my college's official and unofficial mottoes or slogans. Had I been a student today at The University of Texas at Austin, for instance, I would have devoted some of my leisuretime to finding out exactly why and how UT-Austin acquired the unofficial school slogan inscribed on the exterior of the south entrance of UT-Austin's Administration Building, the Tower, that reportedly states: "Ye Shall Know the Truth, And The Truth Shall Make You Free."

---Find the time to study the entire history of my college, including the most recent 10-year period. That historical perspective on my campus would enhance my appreciation for that college, and for the many ways in which my college is eternally striving to become a better and wiser and more insightful school that is as fully attuned as possible to addressing the needs of 21st Century and 22nd Century American society.

--Find the time to memorize my college's official fight song or official anthem or song. During my years as a college student there, and for decades after I graduated, I could then sing that official school song or anthem to myself as a source of inspiration for me during periods of hardship or adversity for me in my own life.

--Post on the walls of my dorm room or rental apartment unit several of my all-time favorite wise sayings, including the "Self-criticism is the secret weapon of a democracy" observation from 1950s Democratic Party Presidential Candidate Adlai Stevenson; and the "Half of life is just showing up" famous observation from American comedian Woody Allen.

--Schedule an appointment to meet the President of the college in person at his administrative office. To prepare for that two-person meeting, I could jot down some polite questions that I might then pose to the President during that meeting. The one-to-one meeting with the chief administrator for my college would encourage me to participate fully in the campus community, and to feel very confident that if I ever had a future comment or concern I wanted to share with the President, he or she would of course welcome that friendly interest in our college from myself.

---Visit the campus library and ask a librarian there to help me identify each of the books in that library that was written by an individual who was employed at that time as a professor or student at that campus, or that was written by an alumnus of that campus. From that list of books written by an individual affiliated with my campus, I could then select the two or three books I would most like to check out and study. Reviewing that book would serve as a reminder to me that anyone studying or employed at that campus, including myself, could potentially become a published author at some future date.

--Make a list of each of the student groups on campus that do not sponsor any consumption of drinking alcohol or tobacco or marijuana or any other illicit drug at that student group's meetings, or at other events sponsored by that student group. From that list, I might possibly identify at least one student group that particularly appealed to me, and to which I might apply to join.

---Keep an ongoing list of which of my classmates or schoolmates either invited me to have lunch or breakfast with them inside a campus-operated cafeteria or eatery, or accepted an invitation from me to have lunch or breakfast with me on campus at a campus-affiliated cafeteria or cafe. From that list, I might identify some students who might make good prospective new personal friends for myself.

---Keep an ongoing list of the classmates or schoolmates of mine who on their own initiative politely pose a question to me that strikes me as being interesting, thought-provoking, creative, or helpful.  From that list, I might identify some schoolmates who might make good prospective friends for me.

---Find out at the first of each semester, if possible, which career-related fairs or career-related workshops have been scheduled to take place on campus. I could then add those dates to my schedule book and consider attending one or more of those career-related fairs or workshops on campus.

---Find out who the career guidance counselors are on my campus. I would then make a point of scheduling an appointment with a career guidance counselor, in order to explore with that individual whether there are career-related affinities or career-related strengths of mine that I  might have overlooked. This might help to guide me in my ongoing reflections about which eventual career might be the best match for myself. If I believe I would be outstanding as an "Ideas Person" for a company, for instance, I could ask a career guidance counselor employed at my college campus if that individual had suggestions on how I could identify "Ideas Person" employment opportunities, whether on campus or in the outside world.

---Add to my own schedule book the dates and times for each of the hobbies-related fairs or hobbies-related workshops that have been scheduled to take place on campus during that semester. I would then make a point of attending one or more of those hobbies fairs or workshops. This would help me to add to or hone my own hobbies and pastimes.

---Identify each of the lifelong sports that I myself have participated in or learned or pursued, and then attend a live competitive event on campus that features either  varsity athletes competing in that sport, junior varsity athletes competing in that sport, or intra-varsity league athletes competing in that lifelong sport. Attending live events on campus that highlight each of the lifelong sports I know or enjoy the most will serve as a lifelong inspiration to me.

---Consider inviting a varsity athlete from my school campus to have lunch with me on campus. This would be a golden opportunity for me to ask that varsity athlete how he or she is able to achieve a solid and strong "scholar-athlete" identity that is considered by many to be an ideal goal for a college student.

---Enroll in at least one academic course on campus that relates to the theme of lifelong hobbies or pastimes or sports. Through my studies in that course, I would strengthen my own ability to focus on that crucial theme. This would allow me to anticipate and prepare for the day when I am eventually pursuing a full-time career and have a need for a fun and enjoyable hobby or pastime or athletic activity to pursue during my leisuretime.

---Invite a friend or friendly schoolmate to accompany me on a visit to a museum situated either on campus or within 10 miles of the campus. Touring a museum with a friendly acquaintance from the same college could make the visit memorable and intriguing.

---Strive to offer thoughtful responses to statements that other classmates volunteer to me. If a male schoolmate  of mine from Wisconsin repeatedly volunteers to me that he had an ardent desire to have sex with a cited female schoolmate of ours, I might politely ask him what he likes the best about that schoolmate as a human being. This might help encourage that male classmate of mine to reflect on the various personality traits and other attributes of the cited female classmate (in addition to her physical appearance, that is) that he himself admires the most. This could help that male classmate to develop a fuller, deeper, sincere appreciation for that particular lady. He might even decide to write a poem in praise of the cited female schoolmate, as one means of more fully savoring who she is as a human being.

to be continued
