Dear National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) Officials in Washington, D.C.,
I am a former resident of the Boston area of Massachusetts and Worcester, Massachusetts, who has resided in Texas on a continuous and uninterrupted basis ever since January 1988.
I am writing you today in regard to the following statement at your current official website: "NCSL has partnered with State Net/LexisNexis to provide legislators and legislative staff access to a 50-state+ searchable legislation database containing the full text of every bill in the 50 states, the District of Columbia and Congress for the current session. Summaries of Puerto Rico bills also are available."
I would appreciate it if you would please inform me as soon as possible whether my two duly-elected state legislators from Austin who directly represent me in the Texas Legislature, State Rep. Gina Hinojosa and State Senator Kirk Watson, also have direct and year-round access through your NCSL online informational services to a searchable 50-state legislation database that refers to any and all bills that were sponsored or approved or debated, respectively, by legislators in each of the 50 U.S. states at any time in the most recent 12-month period, two-year period, five-year period, 10-year period, 20-year period, 30-year period, or 40-year period, for instance.
As a public-policy-minded constituent of Rep. Hinojosa and Senator Watson, I would be very pleased to learn from you (if true) that both Rep. Hinojosa and her also-influential colleague Senator Watson have full and very prompt year-round access on an ongoing basis to any and all such legislative records over a multi-decade period that refer to bills and laws that were proposed or debated or approved or not approved or vetoed or overturned by court order in any of the 50 U.S. states, including Texas.
Depending on what your reply on this is, that factual information from your noble organization could be very reassuring to me as a law-abiding and gainfully-employed, permanently drinking-alcohol-free, lifelong-tobacco-free, staunchly-anti-marijuana-minded, single adult Anglo gentleman here in Austin.
