Dear "Daily Texan" News Editor and Editor in Chief,
I hope that the following E-mail correspondence of mine with Ms. Sarah Wheat of the Austin-based Planned Parenthood organization will be of interest to "The Daily Texan."
Please note that in her reply letter (attached) to myself, Ms. Wheat cites the total number of vasectomies performed in a recent year for which Planned Parenthood was a sponsor.
I am very hopeful that this would make for an interesting news-feature story or editorial column possibility for "The Daily Texan."
Sincerely and Best Wishes,
former "Daily Texan" reporter and current "Daily Texan" subscriber John Kevin McMillan of Austin.

Dear Planned Parenthood Representative Sarah Wheat in the Austin (TX) area,
As a financial donor to your non-profit organization earlier this year, I would appreciate it if you would please share my E-mail letter (arttached, below) posing a few basic questions, to another Planned Parenthood official who would be willing to kindly send me a succinct response to those additional questions from myself (see attached item, below, from myself) that you are apparently not able to address for me.
Sincerely and Best Wishes,
John Kevin McMillan,

Dear Mr. McMillan: Thank you for your contacting Planned Parenthood and I apologize for the delay in response to your email.
We appreciate your interest in our work and mission. Unfortunately, we receive more email inquiries that we can respond to each day and I am unable to answer each of your questions. As you are aware, our primary focus is on providing high quality, affordable reproductive health care and education to more than 26,000 clients each year at our 3 Austin clinics. Last year, our clinics provided 50 vasectomies and this is a service that we hope to expand in the coming year.
We invite you to visit our website, www.ppaustin.org, or PPFA's website, www.plannedparenthood.org, and review the wide range of information that we make available on-line.
Again, thank you for contacting Planned Parenthood!

Subject: 5-21-08 a few questions from a donor
Dear Planned Parenthood Officials of Central Texas,
I would like to know the approximate number of vasectomy surgeries per year in Central Texas that your Planned Parenthood organization provides or sponsors or assists with.
I raise this question because it seems to me that vasectomy operations can be very effective at preventing unwanted pregnancies in Austin, Texas, and throughout the United States.
Also, I would appreciate receiving an assurance in writing from Planned Parenthood that you do, in fact, support the goal of Zero Population Growth for the United States of America.
I would appreciate receiving from your noble non-profit group a printed copy of any brochures or other published items referring to that very wise apparent goal of your organization.
Also, if Planned Parenthood has not yet officially endorsed the goal of "Zero Population Growth" for the United States and for our entire world, I would appreciate your offering me an explanation for your organization's ideological position on that.
Finally, I would like to raise the question of whether Planned Parenthood offers parenting-skills workshops and other parenting education programs that relate to topics other than sexual reproduction or contraception per se. I would feel better about your organization if I sensed that you truly do offer a comprehensive and very philanthropic devotion to helping parents and prospective parents to be as successful as possible at raising biological offspring of theirs or, if applicable, at raising stepchildren inside their own private residence.
Sincerely and Best Wishes from a very recent (tonight) and first-time financial donor to Planned Parenthood,
John Kevin McMillan,
