Dear Kara,
Thank you for writing me a reply letter (see below) about this very important personal-security-related and quality of life issue for me.
I would also like to take this opportunity to share with you a factual report relating to concerns of mine I've expressed to your management team last year that some alleged intruder may somehow allegedly be entering my apartment unit from above the ceiling somewhere in my apartment.
Early this Monday morning, I was abruptly awakened at one point while sleeping alone on my Swedish bed, and I was very surprised to suddenly see a significant amount of light emanating from above the large panel, itself slightly opened from one side at that time, that is itself situated directly above the bathtub of my one bathroom. I had turned the light to my bathroom off before I went to bed at about 12:30 a.m. this Monday, so there should not have been ANY light emanating from the bathroom area after I went to bed.
I mention this partly because Ms. Norma Hilbig of the Travis County District Attorney's Office here in Austin has helpfully expressed polite concerns of hers to me on the telephone in recent weeks that possibly an illegal intruder is somehow illegally entering my apartment unit (Apt. 325) FROM ABOVE me during my nocturnal slumber on my bed ---- this after the intruder has possibly or allegedly hidden out in a large empty compartment situated between the ceiling of my vaulted-ceiling apartment and the roof above my top-floor apartment unit in Building 3.
I have been very impressed by the confidence in me that the Travis County DA's Office has kindly expressed in recent months in regard to this criminal-law matter. As a courtesy to Ms. Hilbig, I am also sending her a carbon-copy of this correspondence relating to recent criminal-law complaints from myself that I've filed with the Austin Police Department.
Kara, I am also writing you this hopefully-polite follow-up note to ask you whether the polite and helpful general manager here at Wind River Crossing, Ann Coker, has given authorization to your first-rate security officer, Josh, to himself occasionally monitor the outdoor balcony of my second-floor apartment unit in the early morning hours?
I am raising that one follow-up question after a member of your very nice management team, and I believe it was possibly yourself, helpfully informed me on the telephone in the last several weeks that Wind River Crossing does not do any outdoor electronic surveillance anywhere on the premises of thie entire apartment complex. For that reason, I was told by the assistant manager I spoke with, it would not currently be possible for Wind River Crossing to electronically surveillance the outdoor balcony to the upper-floor one-bedroom apartment where I reside, Apartment 325 in Building 3 at Wind River Crossing.
Thank you in advance, Kara, for your helpful reply note to this one follow-up question from myself.
Sincerely and Best Wishes,
John Kevin McMillan, a tenant at Wind River Crossing ever since August 2001, and a tenant inside Apt. 325 ever since January 2002.

Good afternoon, John,
The statements you made in your e-mail were mostly correct, except that I did not say that we have done everything to make your apartment as “secure and safe” as possible. We can never ensure anyone’s safety as it is against policy to do so. What I stated was that we have done everything that Texas apartment laws require in your lease contract as far as the number of locks on your door and the locks installed on your sliding patio door.
I will mention your request about Josh to Ann, our manager. Until then, if you have any other questions, please let me know. Thank you, and I hope you have a great day, John!
Respectfully,
Kara Hlavaty, CAM assistant cOmmunity Manager

Dear Kara,
Thank you for taking the time to talk with me today and helpfully state to me that:
---It is acceptable to your first-rate management team for me to myself install an additional lock to my front door to the one-bedroom, second-floor apartment unit (Apt. 325) in which I am the only approved occupant and only approved leasee.
You offered me that helpful comment after I mentioned to you that I have had continuing concerns on my part about an alleged possible illegal intruder somehow being present inside my bolt-locked and locked and fully-secured apartment unit during early-morning hours in a context when I am sleeping alone on my Swedish bed ----always without there being ANY invited overnight guest or ANY invited late-night guest after midnight at any time inside Apt. 325, where I reside.
I also politely mentioned to you during our brief meeting today that shortly after I wake up in the morning, on numerous occasions in 2011 and 2012 I have found and diligently collected numerous hair follicles on my bed that definitely were NOT my own, and that I have shared many of those hair follicle samples I've collected with the Austin Police Department, our municipal law-enforcement agency with jurisdiction over any and all crimes committed inside the city limits of Austin.
---When or if I ever move out of my very nice apartment unit, I will be expected to myself remove the additional lock that I have installed to the front door of Apartment 325.
---The Austin Police Department is the appropriate entity or agency for me to contact in regard to any and all security-related concerns of mine, since, as you helpfully pointed out to me during our brief meeting we had at about 12:30 p.m. today, the first-rate mangemeant team and, you also apparently indicated, the very fine company that owns this property, a company that is itself headquartered in Dallas, Texas, have done everything you possibly can do to make my one-bedroom apartment unit (Apt. 325) as secure and safe as possible in regard to any risk of any intruder somehow entering my apartment unit at any time.
----No person other than myself is ever authorized by Wind River Crossing management to be inside my apartment unit (Apt. 325) at any time after midnight in the early morning hours.
---Wind River Crossing does not have any surveillance cameras anywhere on the premises of this apartment complex, so you therefore would not ever be able to obtain any evidence of any possible alleged trespasser or intruder who might ever be present outdoors on the front porch abutting the front door to Apartment 325.
---It is acceptable to your first-rate management team at Wind River Crossing for me to myself personally knock on the door of any of my neighbors and politely introduce myself by name.
---It is acceptable to your first-rate management team for me to post an announcement about my seeking a tennis partner, with that announcement of mine to be posted by me near the outdoor mail-boxes area situated just south of your management offices.
Kara, please let me know if you ever sense that your very fine security officer, whose first name is Josh, if I'm not mistaken, is willing to occasionally inspect the front porch of my apartment unit during the early-morning hours, such as at 3 a.m. or 5 a.m,. and thereby confirm for your first-rate management team that no unauthorized intruder is present on the front porch or has somehow entered my apartment unit in an illegal manner.
In that regard, I did mention to you during our meeting today inside your management team's office that a few days ago, I suddenly woke up in my bed at about 3 a.m. and heard the loud sounds of a heavyset man who apparently began to walk up the steps leading onto the balcony for the two total units in this wing of Building 3. That heavyset man was apparently the same man who loudly verbalized a profane comment (and you helpfully mentioned to me today that you don't need to know the exact wording fo that comment he allegedly verbalized) in that cited context.
Thank you again, Kara, for your consistently polite and informative style as a first-rate assistant manager for Wind River Crossing. Please let me know as soon as possible, such as through a courtesy reply note on this, if I did not accurately paraphrase your comments to me, or my comments to you, today.
Sincerely and Best Wishes,
John Kevin McMillan, a permanently alcohol-free, permanently tobacco-free, permanently illicit-drug-free, civil and law-abiding and polite, tattoo-less, consistently clean-talking, single adult gentleman who lives alone in Apt. 325 at Wind River Crossing.
