John,

I know of no state in the nation where acoustical issues are taken seriously. If it is quiet you seek, then I think you will have to relocate.

As one who spent 24 years searching out some of the most remote (quiet) locations in North America with the intended purpose of making professional quality sound recordings for the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, the quietest location I ever found was the region in extreme southwestern Oregon.

There are many very sparsely populated areas in this country (not the least of which are areas in your home state of Texas), but what makes this area (in Oregon) so unique is that it is even devoid of commercial air traffic given the fact this location doesn't even lie in a direct line between any two major population centers (this includes flights destined to or originating in Hawaii or the Orient). Quiet you will find, but employment would be another matter if that is a concern.

Oh, and not surprisingly, this region of Oregon is virtually uninhabited except right along the Pacific Ocean, and even then, this portion of the coast is very deserted. One can find private land for sale at the edge of this relatively huge area of pristine quietness. Except for the small towns of Brookings, and Gold Beach, Oregon (combined population of about 8,000), it is a five hour drive to any population center of any size from this region of extreme SW Oregon.

Subject: 2-28-16 question for your anti-noise group

Dear Noise Free America Representatives,

Do you recommend that I move from my current state of Texas to another U.S. state if I want to achieve a significant reduction in the amount of continuous, daily and year-round noise pollution I'm subjected to against my wishes that I myself did not generate or cause or authorize?

Thank you in advance for your invaluable reply letter to me on this one question.

Best Wishes,

John Kevin McMillan,
10926 Jollyville Road, Apt. 902, Austin, Texas, 78759.
