TRAVIS COUNTY COMMISSIONER TODD BAXTER STATES IN AUGUST 1, 2001, OFFICIAL SIGNED REPLY LETTER TO CONSTITUENT JOHN KEVIN McMILLAN OF AUSTIN THAT COMMISSIONER BAXTER HAS NO KNOWLEDGE OF ANY LEGAL ACTIONS PURSUED BY A CITED PRIVATE ATTORNEY (JOHN F. CAMPBELL) ON BEHALF OF MR. McMILLAN

(Editor's Note: The following official reply letter from Travis County Commissioner Todd Baxter was written and mailed to a constituent of his, John Kevin McMillan of Austin.

The letter was written as an apparent clarification to constituent John K. McMillan after a 2001 Texas Open Records request by that constituent obtained legal documents on file with Commissioner Todd Baxter in which Mr. Baxter was quoted as saying that he questioned the "sincerity" of the private attorney representing John K. McMillan.

The attorney to whom Commissioner Baxter directly referred in those legal documents on file with his county commissioner's office in Austin was State Bar of Texas member attorney John F. Campbell. Mr. Campbell, who apparently continues in the year 2016 to practice the law in Austin, is an early-1960s alumnus of The University of Texas at Austin Law School. He is also a highly-regarded private attorney. Mr. Campbell was employed at Campbell and Morgan Law Firm in downtown Austin during the cited time period.--jkm)
