Dear Mr McMillan,
Thank you for your email which is below.
Cambridge City Council has no legal power to determine the rights of individuals to enter or remain within the United Kingdom. As a local authority we are bound by the decisions of central government regarding the status of any individual who enters the United Kingdom.
Our housing assistance duties and powers are also enshrined in national legislation and as such we are not able to assist with housing any individuals who do not meet the criteria for eligibility for housing assistance as laid out in national immigration law.
If you wish to apply to Cambridge City Council for housing you can do so from our website https://www.cambridge.gov.uk/ however unless you are residing in the United Kingdom with a right to access housing assistance you will not be eligible to apply and your application will be rejected.
Regards
Housing Advice Team
Cambridge City Council
