The Continuous Crimes-theme Letter to the Editor I Wrote and Submitted in Writing to the 'Austin American-Statesman' daily newspaper in Austin, Texas, on December 10, 2021

A Letter to the Editor I submitted for publication to the "Austin American-Statesman" daily newspaper on December 10, 2021----21 days before I relocated from Texas to Utah through an airplane flight that transported me to the Salt Lake City area.

Dear Letters Editor and "American-Statesman" Editor Manny Garcia,

After learning today that Mr. Bridges is no longer with the "Statesman" staff, I would like to resubmit this letter I wrote on December 8 directly to the "Letters to the Editor" section of your very influential daily newspaper.

Best Wishes,

John Kevin McMillan of Austin, Texas.

Below is a Letter to the Editor of "The Austin American-Statesman" that I wish to submit for immediate publication by your award-winning daily newspaper in Austin, Texas:

The Legislature should approve a new law providing funding for---and requiring the Texas Department of Public Safety to program---a very advanced new DPS computer that helps law-enforcement agencies identify whether a crime case is a CONTINUOUS CRIMES case.

That computer assistance can be a lifesaver for home-invasion-crimes-and-rape-crimes victims --- especially those who are repeatedly physically abused during their sleeping hours over a multi-month period inside their locked residence in Texas. For cases of that type, law-enforcement agencies should be required to automatically obtain State of Texas-funded six-month-retroactive DNA-traces processing of each and every rape-evidence kit they receive from the victim.

The Legislature should also publicly identify that new state law as the "Texas Sanctity of Sleep Act".

Sincerely,

John Kevin McMillan.
