Subject: Need for increased inter-hospital info sharing

Dear Senator Eckhardt,

Sharing between hospitals of medical information about an emergency room patient in Texas can often save the life of that patient.

At present, however, no prompt sharing of medical information between any Seton ER and any St. David's ER is permitted, according to what I have been repeatedly told over a multi-decade period as a patient in the ER's of a variety of local hospitals in the Austin area.

Senator Eckhardt, are you willing to author or sponsor a new state law that promotes automatic and immediate sharing  --- upon request --- of medical records for any ER patient at any St. David's hospital in Texas  by the ER at any applicable Seton hospital in Texas where that patient might have been previously admitted?

The proposed new state law might also require automatic and immediate sharing --- upon request --- of medical records for an ER patient at any Seton hospital in Texas by the ER at any applicable St. David's hospital in Texas where that patient might have been previously admitted.

I hope to hear from you soon in regard to this proposed new state law in Texas.
