To: Benita M. Reyes, Legal Assistant,
Office of General Counsel,
Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) state agency,
1200 East Anderson Lane, Austin, TX 78752.
October 8, 2021
Dear Ms. Reyes,
Thank you for your reply e-mail letter to me today (last item, below) in response to my recent public-information request to your State Government of Texas agency that your agency has stated to me that you officially received on September 23, 2021.
That public-information request of mine had been e-mailed by me to your state agency on August 31, 2021, and sought from your state agency "a copy of any and all letters, e-mail letters, reports, memoranda, or other written communications referring to myself at least once in any manner, and that in each such case were written, received, sent, forwarded, mailed, or FAXed at any time since April 1, 2011, by any staff member or attorney or administrator of your state agency's Office of General Counsel here in Austin."
Ms. Reyes, I also want to thank you for the numerous attachments of legal documents you are willing to release to me that you have provided to me today as an accompaniment to your e-mail reply letter.
Among those attachments you e-mailed to me today is an October 7, 2021, signed legal letter (directly below) to the Attorney General of Texas on official THECB stationery.
In that legal letter, your THECB state agency's General Counsel, Ms. Nichole Bunker-Henderson, cited "attorney-client privilege" in seeking official permission from the Attorney General to withhold from me an unspecified number of legal documents that are responsive to my most recent public-information request.
Thank you again for your reply letter. I will carefully review each of the numerous attachments you have chosen to share with me today.
Sincerely and Best Wishes,
John Kevin McMillan, public-information requestor and an alumnus of Stephen F. Austin High School of the Austin Independent School District in Austin, Texas; The University of Texas at Austin; and The University of Minnesota Graduate School of Journalism and Communications in Minneapolis.
My solo-occupancy efficiency-rental-home address ever since June 21, 2019:
Pebble Creek Apartments, 8805 North Plaza Drive, Bldg. 17, Apt. 2418, Austin, TX 78753.
