Dear Mr. McMillan,
Thank you for your question. Generally, the right to “quiet enjoyment” includes the right to live comfortably in your home free from disturbance from your landlord and other tenants. Your lease and lease addendum may provide additional guidance on acceptable tenant behavior and prohibited conduct. You should contact your landlord if you believe another tenant has violated the terms of the lease agreement.
Here are a few additional resources that provide some more information on tenants’ rights.

TSAHC cannot provide advice on individual circumstances. If you have a specific question or concern, we recommend that you contact the Austin Tenants’ Council. You can find their contact information below. Thanks!

Dear TSAHC President David Long and TSAHC Communications Director Katie Claflin,
I would appreciate it if either of you highly-esteemed TSAHC officials would please explain for me the precise meaning of a statement that Ms. Claflin made in an August 21, 2015, blog at your website that was entitled "Know Your Rights as a Tenant."
That blog cited what the Attorney General of Texas has delineated as being legal rights for all apartment tenants in Texas, including the following:
"Your landlord must also protect you from any wrongful actions taken by other tenants."
In particular, which specific types of wrongful actions by other tenants are included in the scope of this State of Texas-mandated legal protection that's provided by the landlord?
Thank you in advance for your helpful reply note to me on this.
Sincerely and Best Wishes,
John Kevin McMillan,
