Dear Texas Department of Transportation Officials in Austin,
I have been referred to you in writing (below) by Eboni of the Austin 311 telephone information and referral service. Please note that the location of the hazardous hole that she cites in the text of her reply message is not correct.
I had stated in writing to Austin 311 and other government agencies that the hazardous hole is at the intersection of Metric Boulevard and Research Boulevard in north Austin. The very alarming hole is near the southeastern corner of a new construction project currently occurring for a planned large apartment complex (a new complex with a cited name such as possibly "Solano"?).
Please cover the cited hazardous hole immediately. At present, that hole is a major legal liability for your State Government of Texas agency. Especially in the early morning hours or evening hours and at nighttime, any child or senior citizen or other adult person walking along Research Boulevard in that area could easily fall into that hole and be severely injured.
I discovered that hazardous hole for the first time at about 8:40 a.m. Saturday, September 25, 2021, as I was walking westward to one of my workplaces in north Austin after I had exited from a Cap Metro bus at a bus stop along Rundberg Lane near Metric Boulevard.
I was very fortunate that I myself had not fallen into the cited hazardous hole. After I reached my workplace on foot, I called 911 at 8:50 a.m. Saturday, September 25, 2021, in order to ask for an immediate life-saving response by the City of Austin to that very alarming safety hazard. The female 911 dispatcher I spoke with assured me that she would get a prompt response to that problem. Unfortunately, when I myself last checked on Sunday, September 26, the hazardous hole was still there.
The hazardous hole is across the street from the far southern edge of a Pep Boys auto parts and service corporate-owned business. That Pep Boys location is at 8917 Research Boulevard, 78758, in north Austin.
Sincerely and Best Wishes,
John Kevin McMillan.
