AUSTIN'S MURDER-PREVENTION STRATEGIES FAILED DISASTROUSLY IN FIRST HALF OF 2020: NUMER OF MURDERS HERE REPORTEDLY ROSE AT HIGHER RATE THAN ANY OTHER MAJOR CITY IN USA

A copyrighted November 6, 2020, online report by the Gannett-owned "Austin American-Statesman" daily newspaper in this state-capital city for Texas contained the following very tragic reference to Austin holding a Number One for Infamy distinction specifically for highest percentage increase of any major city in the entire nation in the number of murders committed in our state-capital city during the first-half of 2020 when compared with the first-half of 2019:

"Austin was brought into the national spotlight in August after a data analysis by 'The Wall Street Journal' showed the city (Austin) had the highest percentage increase in homicides in the first half of 2020 than any other large city (in) the nation.
"Austin police data show homicides were up by 64% the first six months of the year, just as the first wave of coronavirus cases was rising, compared with the same months in 2019...."
The headline of this "American-Statesman" online story: "Austin Homicides rise amid pandemic, civil unrest".

The report was written by "American-Statesman" reporters Heather Osbourne and Ana Ramirez.
