HOW TO BOOST THE MORALE OF A HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT ACQUAINTANCE OR FRIEND OF YOURS:

(1) Remind them of the best grade they received from a teacher of theirs this school year on any test they took or any paper they wrote for a class of theirs at their high school. What do they believe helped them to be so successful on that particular test or writing project?

(2) Ask them about the one high school course they are currently taking in which they raise their hand the most frequently in order to make a comment to the teacher or class, or to answer a question that had been posed by the teacher. Does it feel great to participate more fully in that class than in most or all of the other classes they are enrolled in this semester?

(3) Ask them if they are aware that they might possibly qualify for a college scholarship based on one or more of the following criteria that they may have possibly overlooked, with the clear advance understanding that it would take additional factual research to determine whether any scholarships for the following criteria are in fact available to graduating high school students in the United States:

---if they have achieved success at creative entreprenurialism during their youth, possibly there is some type of "Donald Trump Scholarship" that they might qualify for.

---if they have distinguished themselves for their honesty and conscientiousness, it being likely that there is an "Honest Abe Scholarship" being offered to graduating high school students who most embody a leading attribute of United States President Abraham Lincoln in that way.

---if they are salutatorian or valedictorian of their graduating class.


--if they are a published author, or if they keep a blog that is judged to be creative or intellectually vital.

---if they have helped to deter crime in their city, county, state, or nation by filing a successful crime report with a law-enforcement agency that has jurisdiction or legal authority.

---if they have chosen to lead a permanently tattoo-less lifestyle throughout their entire life.

--if they had temporarily dropped out of high school because of pregnancy, and if they later returned to high school in order to get their diploma, possibly there is a special type of scholarship for female students fitting that description.

---if they are also holding onto a paying job during their high school years, possibly this might qualify them for a college scholarship on that basis.

---if they are from a household or family in which either or both of their parents had dropped out of high school during their own high school years or never attended high school, possibly this might be cited as a criterion that helps them to obtain a college scholarship.

---if they are they are living in a single-parent household, possibly this might qualify them for a college scholarship on that basis if they meet other criteria as well.

---if their father or mother, or both their father or mother, died unexpectedly of natural causes or in a context in which that high school student was not blameworthy in any way, possibly this might qualify a graduating high school student for some type of college scholarship if that student meets other criteria as well.

--if they are graduates of a cited elementary school, a cited middle school, or a cited junior high school, possibly this might also help them to qualify for a college scholarship on that basis.

---if they have avoided getting pregnant out of wedlock throughout their youth.

---if they excel at creative brainstorming, with some foundation possibly offering college scholarships to graduating high school seniors who are successful at creative brainstorming.

---if they have had any role in a professional movie production, or if they have had any role in a professional live-theater production.

---if they plan to join a cited fraternity or sorority during their upcoming college years.

---if they plan to attend college in a college situated in the same state where they attended high school, possibly this might help them to qualify for a college scholarship on that basis.

---if they are among the "most improved students" of their graduating class, such as if they significantly raised their grade-point average over the course of their four years in high school.

---if they permanently overcame an addiction to alcohol or tobacco or marijuana or one or more other illicit drugs after successfully completing an effective treatment program for that addiction during their youth.

---if they earned any award of any type during their high school years, such as an award in a cooking competition or an award in a debate or public-speaking competition.

---if they are the son or daughter of a clergyman;

---if they have any American Indian ancestry;

---if they are a member of their school's Student Council;

---if they are a member of a club at their high school, such as the National Honor Society;

---if they are a member of a cited religious group or denomination;

---if one of their parents has a career for which college scholarships to offspring of persons employed in that career are available.

---if they are a native of a certain state or city or nation or foreign nation.

---if they or their family has resided in a particular neighborhood or district or borough of a city for 10 or 20 or more years.


---if they can speak or write in two or more languages with fluency or semi-fluency.

---if they are a direct descendant of any of the Pilgrims who traveled to America on the Mayflower;

---if they are a member of a civic group that offers college scholarships to graduating high school students;

---if they are or were a member of any varsity athletic team at their high school.

---if they have an intelligence quotient (IQ) that might qualify them for a college scholarship on that basis.

---if they have a last name for which scholarships are being offered.

---if they have pursued an internship or held a job at a particular employer that offers college scholarships to high school students who have worked there.

---if they are a native of the city or town in which they reside.

---if they are a native of the county in which they reside.

---if they plan to pursue a career in a particular field, such as nursing, for which scholarships to high school students with that cited career ambition are being offered.

----if they rank among the top 10 percent academically among all members of their graduating class at their high school.

----if they are a biological twin of someone.

----if any of their parents is a military veteran.

----if they lead a permanently tobacco-free lifestyle.

---if they lead a permanently alcohol-free lifestyle.

---if they lead a permanently illicit-drug-free lifestyle.

---if they lead a lifestyle in which they consistently refrain from verbalizing profanity or obscenities in their everyday conversations with others.

---if any relative of theirs is an alumnus of the university or college at which they hope to enroll as an incoming freshman.

----if they pursued journalism for their high school's student newspaper.

---if they have an exotic or interesting hobby for which some organization promoting that hobby offers college scholarships to graduating high school students who diligently pursue that hobby.

---if they excel at promoting public safety, including at their high school, and they learn through research that an organization such as the National Safety Council possibly offers referrals to college scholarships for high school students who exhibit that type of admirable devotion to protecting the safety of others.

---if they excel at writing essays about their own sense of civic duty, it being very likely that numerous organizations offer college scholarships to high school students who write eloquently about their own strong sense of civic duty.

---if they maintained complete and year-round celibacy throughout their high school years, possibly this might serve as a criteria that helps them to qualify for a college scholarship on that basis.

---If they live in a household in which the primary language being spoken is not English, possibly this might qualify them for a special type of college scholarship partly on that basis.

--if they pursued volunteer work for a non-profit group in their community or in some other admirable civic-minded context, possibly this might help them to qualify for a college scholarship on that basis.

---if they participated in carpooling with another high school student during their high school years, possibly this energy-saving practice might help them to qualify for a college scholarship on that basis.

---if they wrote a helpful public-policy letter to a duly-elected city council member or other city official, a duly-elected county government official, a duly-elected state official, or a duly-elected federal official, and that public-policy letter was determined to be helpful toward solving a public-policy-related problem in society or in their own lives, possibly this might help them to qualify for a college scholarship on that basis.

--if they filed complaints against one or more law-breaking classmates that were helpful to the administrative team at their high school such as their principal or vice principal, or that were helpful to the police department for that school or school district, possibly this might enable them to qualify for a college scholarship partly on that basis.

---if they pursued noteworthy actions during their high school years that helped to protect the environment or help to protect wildlife, possibly they could qualify for  college scholarship partly on that basis.

---If they were Honor Students who were never once subjected to any disciplinary punitive actions by the administrative team at their high school or arrested by the police department for their high school or school district, possibly they could qualify for an "Honorable Citizen Award" partly on that basis.

---If they were good and honorable and vigilant and helpful neighbors to the other persons residing in their neighborhood during their high school years, possibly they could qualify for a college scholarship partly on that basis.

---If they attended a meeting of their local school board and gave a speech at that meeting that was helpful to that school district, possibly they could qualify for a college scholarship partly on that basis, with the understanding that they might need to submit a videotape of that speech as part of their application to any non-profit group or foundation for a college scholarship on that basis.

--If they pursued a healthy balance between athletics and academics during their high school years, possibly there is a Scholar Athlete Award scholarship from some foundation that they might possibly qualify for.

---If they refrained from participating in mischievous or injurious pranks throughout their high school years, possibly they could qualify for a Non-Pranking Gentleman or Non-Pranking Lady scholarship from some foundation that may possibly emphasize that important theme.

---If they refused to bully any classmate during their high school years, possibly they could qualify for a Non-Bullying Gentleman or Non-Bullying Lady college scholarship partly on that basis.

--If they pursued actions to oppose bullying or badgering of themselves or any other cited schoolmate during their high school years, possibly they could qualify for a Courageously Kind Graduating High School Student scholarship from some foundation.

---If they refused throughout their high school years to participate in any anonymous communications that were deliberately inflicted on anyone, they possibly could qualify for a Straightforward and Decent Graduating High School Student scholarship on that basis.

--If they significantly helped a classmate or schoolmate of theirs to improve the latter's own quality of life or academic skills or career-related skills or everyday-living skills, possibly they could qualify for a special college scholarship partly on that basis.

--If their birthdate identifies them by any particular sign of the zodiac for which a college scholarship might possibly be available, they could possibly apply for a special college scholarship that is awarded partly on that basis---an "Outstanding Taurus Scholarsihp", for instance, if in fact there is a non-profit foundation that offers college scholarships to persons whose birthdate in the springtime of the year defines them as "Taurus" on that basis.

--If they are a graduating senior more than six feet tall in height if they are male or more than five-foot 10 inches in height if they are female, possibly there is a special college scholarship being offered by a non-profit foundation that primarily serves persons who are tall in height.

--If they are a fan of a particular Hollywood celebrity who has established a foundation granting college scholarships to fans of theirs who also meet other criteria as well, possibly they could qualify for a college scholarship on that basis.

---If they hope to become a billionaire someday, possibly there is some billionaires club that offers college scholarships to individuals deemed "most likely to succeed at becoming a billionaire someday".

---If they earned lots of "I am Liked" votes on Facebook, possibly the total number of votes they received on Facebook from admirers of theirs might help them to qualify for a generous college scholarship on that basis.

--If they appear to have talent at political leadership and are interested in addressing the broader needs of society, possibly they could qualify for a "Future Political Leader of America" college scholarship on that basis.
