Dear John;

It is good to hear from you; last time i emailed you it came back, but that was at your texas.net email...

If you are really interested in these two products; I would look at the concentration of phytosterols per serving, and secondly whether there are hydrogenated fats (which produces trans fats.) If they both have the same concentration of phytosterols, then there may be no effective diffference..I tend to use virgin olive oils and flax seed oil, myself, though of course I am taking both zocor (a statin) and zetia (a cholesterol uptake inhibitor)

 If you really wish to limit your cholesterol levels, though I would recommend taking statins, as they seem to have anti-inflammatory effects in addition, and have much more powerful cholesterol lowering effects.

Anyway, it is not easy to know what is best, as cholesterol per se, may not be the cause but oxidized LDL may be the inflammatory stimulus....and overall arteriosclerosis does seem to be an inflammatory process.

Yesterday it rained here in Los Angeles, for the first time since March, and overall it is cooling off at night,

Best Wishes,

Mike

Michael, which of these two products, Smart Balance or Promise Activ, do you believe to be better for the consumer's heart health? Thanks for your expertise in responding to that important question. I hope that you are having a good early fall season in the Los Angeles area, by the way. Sincerely and Best Wishes, John Kevin McMillan. Phone: (512) 342-2295.

Thank you for your interest and for taking the time to contact us concerning
our Smart Balance product(s).

Attached you will find some information on the products which should answer
any questions you may have.  Please note that our competitor's claim to
"remove cholesterol" refers to dietary cholesterol which is contained in
food items.  Our product balances blood cholesterol ratio by raising HDL
"good" cholesterol and lowering LDL "bad" cholesterol.
