Proposed 'Austin Police Foundation' non-profit group can protect funding levels for APD.

The apparent campaign to reduce funding levels by the City Government of Austin for the Austin Police Department suggests one possible option: Establishment of a non-profit Austin Police Foundation that can accept private donations that enable that foundation to protect and increase funding levels for the Austin Police Department. Example of this (from link below): "New York City Police Foundation: Formed in the 1970s, this organization raises funds for NYPD public safety programs. The Foundation raises millions of dollars each year to support areas such as counterterrorism, neighborhood policing, officer wellness and advanced training." The above quote comes from a copyright-2020 online article at police1.com that was written by Therese Matthews. This January 20, 2020, article is entitled "Form a non-profit to bridge the gap for law enforcement funding needs".
