Dear Open Records Unit officials of the Austin Police Department in Austin, Texas,
Thank you for your reply letter (below) to me today in response to my most recent online public-information request (directly quoted, below) to your municipal law-enforcement agency in this state capital city for Texas.
Your reply letter apparently indicates that the APD Sex Crimes Unit has not had any tradition at any time since January 1, 2012, for instance, of ever at any time compiling an annual citywide statistic on the total number of occasions citywide during the most recent calendar year in which that Sex Crimes Unit has specifically declined to authorize a rape-evidence exam on an individual requesting one.
Please let me know if this paraphrasing of the content of your April 24 reply letter to me strikes you as being in any way inaccurate.
One hopefully-polite follow-up question for you:
Is ANY APD office or APD official (such as a civil-rights compliance officer for APD; the Office of the APD Police Chief; an Internal Affairs officer for APD; or an APD official compiling an annual report on behalf of APD to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement state agency, the Governor of Texas, the Texas Legislature, the U.S. Department of Justice, or to the FBI) currently assigned or expected to compile or obtain an annual statistic on the total overall number of occasions citywide during the most recent calendar year in which APD's Sex Crimes Unit has specifically declined to authorize a rape-evidence medical exam for one or more respective individuals who had each requested one on himself or herself?
Thank you in advance for your helpful reply note to me on this.
Sincerely and Best Wishes,
from public-information requestor John Kevin McMillan.

Re: Open Record Request of April 22, 2019, Reference # R015598-042219
Dear John McMillan,
The Austin Police Department (APD) received a Public Information request from you on April 22, 2019, to request copies of records pertaining to the following:
“a copy of one page only from each annual-review report generated by the Austin Police Department at any time since January 1, 2012, that specifically contains a factual statistic on the combined overall total number of separate occasions throughout the entire city during the most recent calendar-year period, in which the APD Sex Crimes Unit specifically declined to authorize a forensic DNA-trace sexual-assault exam on a cited person (regardless of how many persons fit that description) who had specifically requested that type of exam on himself or herself.”
A thorough search of records of the Austin Police Department provided no responsive information.
Thank you for contacting the Austin Police Department.
