ALARMING FACTS ABOUT SECOND-HAND EXPOSURE TO SMOKE IN TEXAS AND NATIONWIDE, RESPECTIVELY

According to a "Tobacco Fact Sheet" I obtained recently that was produced by the City of Austin-affiliated "LiveTobaccoFreeAustin.org",  with each of the first three factual statements below having been cited in the 2006 Surgeon General's Report:

--"3,600 nonsmokers die of heart disease each year in Texas from exposure to secondhand smoke."

--"43 percent of nonsmoking adults and children (in the United States) are exposed to secondhand smoke."

---"Asthma symptoms are more common and more severe in children exposed to secondhand smoke."

--"Secondhand smoke is harmful in all environments, indoors and outdoors." This last factual statement is contained in the 2010 Surgeon General's Report.
