URGENT NEED FOR 'VIGILANT ROOMMATE OR NEIGHBOR OF YEAR' AWARD(Austin)
I find it VERY dismaying that there is no current well-publicized nationwide tradition in the United States of a well-publicized annual awards ceremony offering generous public praise and very generous financial prizes to individuals who in the most recent 12-month period helped to save the life of a roommate or housemate or neighbor of theirs in the following way:
BY IMMEDIATELY DIALING "911" ON A TELEPHONE TO REPORT TO THEIR LOCAL POLICE DEPARTMENT OR SHERIFF'S OFFICE POSSIBLE FACTUAL EVIDENCE THEY HAD OBSERVED OR OBTAINED ABOUT AN ALLEGED ILLEGAL INTRUDER OR HOME-INVASION-CRIMES PERPETRATOR OR TRESPASSER OR SUSPECTED RAPIST OR SUSPECTED PERSONAL-INJURY-CRIMES PERPETRATOR OR ALLEGED POSSIBLE HOMICIDAL MANIAC OR SERIAL KILLER WHO WAS ALLEGEDLY SITUATED INSIDE THAT PRIVATE RESIDENCE OR WAS HIMSELF OR HERSELF ATTEMPTING TO BREAK INTO THAT APARTMENT UNIT OR CONDOMINIUM UNIT OR HOME.
An annual or semi-annual awards tradition of that type would promulgate the crucial message to all Americans that if they courageously help to protect the personal safety of a roommate or housemate or neighbor by themselves making a very timely 911 phone call seeking immediate response from a law-enforcement agency, their life-saving alertness and courage might also earn them a sizeable financial award a matter of weeks or months later.
