Subject: 9-17-23 Proposed UT  Continuous Crimes Database

Sept. 17, 2023

Dear Utah  State Government officials,

I am very hopeful the Utah  Legislature will soon approve a new law providing funding for---and requiring the Utah  Department of Public Safety to program---a very advanced new DPS computer database  that helps law-enforcement agencies quickly identify whether a crime case in Utah is a CONTINUOUS CRIMES case.

That computer assistance can be a lifesaver for home-invasion-crimes-and-rape-crimes victims --- especially those who are repeatedly physically abused and medically harmed  during their sleeping hours over a multi-month period inside their locked solo-occupancy rental apartment unit  in Utah.

In cases of that type, I also believe that law-enforcement agencies should be required to automatically obtain State of Utah-funded six-month-retroactive DNA-traces processing of each and every rape-evidence kit they receive from the victim.

The Utah  Legislature should also publicly name the  new state law authorizing these government-funded actions  as the "Utah Sanctity of Sleep Act".

I hope to receive a reply letter on this proposed new  law-enforcement  project   from any of you State Government of Utah officials at your earliest convenience.

Sincerely,

John Kevin McMillan, 535 South 200 East, Apt. 912, SLC, UT 84111.
