Subject: Austin District 7: a Cap Metro bus stop departures board out of order since 4/15

The attached photo (below) was taken by me at 6:50 p.m. today---Sunday, July 11, 2021.  Please note that the photo shows that Cap Metro passengers at this north Austin bus stop face an out-of-order Cap Metro electronic departure-times board that initially looks blank throughout. All of the "information" provided on this departures board---nearly all of it inaccurate---is only visible if bus passengers stand very close to the screen and strain their eyes.

This southbound "Crossroads" Cap Metro bus stop along the western side of Burnet Road is  located a matter of yards north of the Trudy's restaurant-chain North Star location in north Austin. This bus stop is also located four or five blocks south of the intersection of Burnet Road and Research Boulevard in north Austin.

As of 6:50 p.m. this Sunday, July 11, 2021, the cited "current date" at the top of the Cap Metro electronic bus departure times board at Cap Metro bus stop 4573 along Burnet Road stated "4/14" (April 14), without any year cited.

The cited "current date" of "4/14" at the top of this Cap Metro bus-departure times board for Bus Stop 4573 has remained the same over a multi-month period, according to what I myself have directly observed and jotted down prior notes about in a notebook of mine. I have directly informed Cap Metro customer service representatives about this alarming "blank screen" departures board on several separate occasions over a multi-month period.

This major Cap Metro bus stop in the District 7 section of Austin has apparently been out of order and completely useless to Cap Metro bus passengers ever since a cited time on April 14 or April 15. It is not clear whether the most recent calendar year in which this Cap Metro bus stop's electronic departure times board provided currently up-to-date departure times for Cap Metro bus passengers was April 14, 2021, or April 14, 2020.

District 7 is an official City of Austin district currently served and represented by Austin City Council Member Leslie Pool. Ms. Pool has been a highly-regarded member of the Austin City Council ever since January 6, 2015. Leslie Pool is a former full-time employee of the Austin-based Travis County Government.

One male adult Cap Metro passenger waiting for a Cap Metro Route 803 bus at this bus stop early this Sunday evening, July 11, stated to me that my own cited goal of photo-documenting the out-of-order electronic times board here and politely e-mailing that photo to the Cap Metro Board of Directors was an apparent exercise in futility, he indicated. "They (Cap Metro) ain't (sic) goin' (sic) to do nothin' (sic) about it," that African-American gentleman stated to me shortly before he politely boarded a southbound Route 803 "rapid-transit" bus at that bus stop.

I hope this report is helpful to each of you government officials and very distinguished members of the Cap Metro Board of Directors.

Best Wishes,
year-round Cap Metro bus passenger and former full-time daily newspaper reporter John Kevin McMillan.
