Does Anyone Know of ANY outdoor pay telephone near Rundberg and North Lamar That Actually Works?

I was very disappointed again when on July 14, I looked closely at the pay telephone along North Lamar Boulevard a block or so north of West Rundberg Lane.

Several wires were protruding from that pay phone's receiver, and it was obvious that that phone was not working. That pay phone is very close to a bus stop along North Lamar.

It is also the closest outdoor pay phone I'm aware of to the McDonald's chain restaurant location along North Lamar near Rundberg. A frightening scenario: What if some visitor to that area, some permanent resident of that neighborhood (or some homeless person or hotel guest temporarily staying in that area) is without access to a cell phone that is currently working?

If they either witness a violent crime or are victimized by a violent crime near Rundberg and Lamar, how do they contact 911 and ask for an emergency response?

If it's late at night, there might not be anyone outdoors nearby who would be willing to make a 911 phone call for them.

Without a 911 phone call in that situation, a violent crime could occur and a delay in calling 911, if at all, could make it impossible for an EMS crew or an Austin Police officer to arrive in time to save the life of someone victimized by a violent crime there.
