Proposed Utah Legislature Resolution: Honor Motorists Who Never Drive Under The Influence of Alcohol, Illicit Drugs, or Psychoactive Drugs

 It felt great to celebrate Thanksgiving today by writing and sending out this friendly letter to my two duly elected state lawmakers in the Utah Legislature.

Dear State Representative Joel Briscoe and Utah State Senator Dr. Jennifer Plumb,

Happy Thanksgiving to each of you very influential voting  members of the Utah State Legislature and your friends and relatives.

I would like to call your attention to the above link to a copyrighted Summer of 2023 online news story by the first-rate local ABC Television News Team here in Salt Lake City.  

That news story is headlined as follows:

"Sobering statistics on Utah’s rising DUI rates, Highway Patrol responds"

I am very hopeful that one or both of you Utah  Legislators who directly represent me in our official state governing body  will please author, sponsor, or co-sponsor a new Legislative Resolution.

I am referring to a Resolution  that praises the many  law-abiding,  permanently  alcohol-free,  permanently illicit-drug-free, permanently psychoactive-drug-free, safety-minded  Utahn motorists who also consistently drive  within the speed limit in our state.

I hope the proposed Resolution will also praise the many safety-minded  law-abiding Utahn mass-transit passengers and safety-minded law-abiding bicyclists who each lead permanently alcohol-free, illicit-drug-free and psychoactive-drug-free lives.

The proposed Resolution could also praise the law-abiding religious groups in Utah, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints among those honorable religious denominations, that encourage their members to lead permanently alcohol-free, permanently-illicit-drug-free, and permanently marijuana-free lifestyles.

The proposed Utah Legislative Resolution could emphasize that each of the above-cited  noble Utahn motorists and noble Utahn  mass-transit passengers and honorable Utahn  bicyclists on a year-round basis contribute mightily  toward enhanced public safety for all Utahns. 

They do that  by never at any time being Guilty of Driving or Being  Under the Influence of Alcohol or Psychoactive Drugs when they  drive a motor vehicle or ride a mass-transit train, bus, or bicycle in our state.

It also seems likely that alcohol-free, drug-free motorists in Utah are far less likely than other Utahn motorists to ever  be Guilty of Committing a Road Rage-related Violent Crime while driving on the roadways of Utah.

Best Wishes to each of you hard-working state legislators as you diligently prepare to introduce proposed  legislation in the upcoming  session of the Utah Legislature that convenes in January 2024.
