A BELATED CORRECTION IN REGARD TO THE LIFE OF THE VERY PROMINENT PURITAN ELDER WILLIAM BREWSTER

A review today of additional sources of information about the Rev. William Brewster, head chaplain on the Mayflower, indicates that the Rev. William Brewster served as an ADVISER to Plymouth Colony Governor William Bradford.

Those reference sources that were consulted today also apparently indicate that the Rev. William Brewster never served as Governor of either the Plymouth Colony or any other colony in what is now the U.S. Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

The author of this blog, former Boston resident John Kevin McMillan, regrets any inconvenience that might have been caused by the previous incorrect statements found in this Blog, or in E-mail letters sent by Mr. McMillan, that referred to the Rev. Brewster's biographical accomplishments.

It is worth noting, in any event, that the Rev. William Brewster during his lifetime served as the top religious leader for the Plymouth Colony, situated in what is now southeastern Massachusetts.
