I hope that May 3, 2022, the day next month that officially marks your successful completion of six full years as Chief of Police, will prove to be a joyous event for you.
I am a crime-prevention advocate, pro-law-enforcement private citizen, and gainfully-employed, dependably civil and law-abiding and honest, permanently-alcohol-free and very anti-marijuana-minded, lifelong-tattoo-less, single adult white male English-Scottish-German-ancestry American citizen and new resident of the much-admired Salt Lake County city of Cottonwood Heights. My date of birth is
4-27-1957. My place of birth is Lincoln, Nebraska. I myself do not have any criminal-conviction record.
Chief Brown, I would like to respectfully raise a question for you:
What might explain why your Salt Lake City Police Department at your official website has apparently not emphasized crime prevention in the most recent three-year period?
I am raising this question after a shocker occurred for me this morning when I visited the official website for the Salt Lake City (UT) Police Department and searched for the term "crime prevention":
Six of the 10 total items that were generated by my online search for information referred to Salt Lake City Police crime prevention projects that occurred in 2013. That was nine years ago.
NONE of the items generated by my online search referred to ANY crime-prevention project from Salt Lake City Police at any time in the most recent three-year period.
The most recent Salt Lake City Police-sponsored crime prevention project that was generated by my online search at your department's official website was: "Published by SLCPD (on)...September 17, 2018
Press Release: SLCPD Chief Mike Brown Hosts Opioid Prevention Roundtable".
Of the three other items generated that were not from the year 2013, one was from the year 2012; one was from the year 2014; and one was from the year 2015.
Chief Brown, I am sure you will agree that keeping the crime rate in Salt Lake City, Utah, as low as possible demands a very aggressive ongoing and year-round pursuit by SLCPD of a wide variety of crime-prevention strategies---including strategies for prevention and deterrence of any and all home-invasion crimes, including any and all one-time (and any and all continuous multi-day) home-invasion-crimes, in your state-capital city.
I hope to hear from you soon, Chief Brown, about this very important crime-deterrence-related public-policy issue for your culturally influential city and our entire metro area.
