I spoke tonight with a self-identified homeless woman in Cottonwood Heights, Utah, and I gave her the phone number for a 24-hour-a-day Homeless Hotline telephone information and referral service for Salt Lake County homeless persons.
That 24-hour-a-day Homeless Hotline is provided by the local United Way organization. The phone number for that Homeless Hotline is: (801) 990-9999.
I also provided the self-identified homeless lady in Cottonwood Heights with the address for the Geraldine E. King Women's Resource Center complex in Salt Lake City, Utah. That address is: 131 East 700 South.
I was told on the telephone tonight by a Homeless Hotline staff member that if a homeless lady in Salt Lake County needs a place to stay for any given night, she should visit the Women's Resource Center between 7 a.m. or 8 a.m. of the day in which she is seeking to find a safe place in which to stay that night.
The homeless shelters in Salt Lake County, Utah, are generally full by 5 p.m. or 6 p.m. of each day, a staff member for the Homeless Hotline mentioned to me tonight on the telephone.
Some of the homeless shelters in Salt Lake County are for persons who have a substance abuse problem. However, the vast majority of those shelters are NOT for persons with a substance-abuse problem, a staff member for the local Homeless Hotline mentioned to me on the phone this evening.
If a homeless person in Salt Lake County needs transportation to a homeless shelter, no such service is currently offered by any homeless-assistance organization to homeless persons, a staff member for the Homeless Hotline told me on the phone this evening.
If a homeless lady has a pet dog that she wants to bring with her to a homeless shelter, there is only one homeless shelter in Salt Lake County, Gail Miller homeless shelter, that can accommodate homeless ladies bringing a pet dog with them, a staff member for the Homeless Hotline told me this evening on the phone..
The street address for the Gail Miller Resource Center is 242 West Paramount Avenue in Salt Lake City.
