Tangible Advantages to an Alcohol-Free Lifestyle

Among the tangible advantages to your pursuing a lifestyle in which you completely abstain from any consumption of drinking alcohol (and I will be adding more information to this blog on a year-round basis) are:

(1) If you are pregnant and consume ANY alcoholic beverages, you needlessly increase the risk of your child being born with congenital birth defects such as a small head or a defective heart. Those individuals born with "fetal alcohol sydnrome," as it is called, are also at increased risk of being developmentally disabled.

(2) If you drink more than two alcoholic drinks per day, you are at increased risk of coronary heart disease. This occurs because of destruction of heart muscle and accompanying symptoms such as irregular heartbeat (arrthymias) or heart failure.

(3) If you are male and you drink more than two alcoholic drinks per day, you are at increased risk of suffering a stroke.

(4) Consumption of alcohol can cause cirrhosis of the liver in yourself.
