Consumerism-minded Americans throughout each year are bombarded with ratings of the various U.S. states.
One very important ranking of that type which I would like to see is:
A ranking of the U.S. states based on which U.S. states, by order of success in that category, offer the most extensive and reliable and safe and comfortable and energy-efficient, fossil-fuel-conserving, high-speed passenger-train rail transit services within that state.
Currently, if Americans were asked in a survey to list the very best U.S. states based on that criterion, the results would reveal widespread ignorance.
The vast majority of Americans would probably cite "New York State" or "Pennsylvania" in response to that survey, but would otherwise be completely baffled by the question.
And unfortunately, I myself have never seen a newspaper article or magazine article that ranks applicable states by their level of excellence in that category.
