SHOULD THERE BE ;AN 'AMERICAN MASS-MURDER DETERRENCE RESEARCH CENTER' IN THE USA?

One of the public-policy questions that I hope the next U.S. President and current U.S. Congress will address sometime this month is simply this:

SHOULD THE U.S. GOVERNMENT FUND OR HELP FUND OR OFFICIALLY SPONSOR ESTABLISHMENT OF AN 'AMERICAN MASS-MURDER DETERRENCE RESEARCH CENTER'?

IF SO, WHERE SHOULD THAT RESEARCH CENTER BE SITUATED?

Monday, January 9, 2017

QUESTIONS THAT SHOULD BE POSED TO THE INCOMING U.S. PRESIDENT, DONALD TRUMP REPORTEDLY BEING THAT INDIVIDUAL, AT THAT NEW HEAD OF STATE'S VERY FIRST PRESS CONFERENCE:

(1) Which steps are you taking to help the United States and American society convert to the metric system as our official system of measurements as quickly as possible?

(2) You have stated that you will not accept the salary payment to you that a modern U.S. President would normally receive. Did it ever occur to you that the next time a rich person gets elected to the Presidency, you have set a precedent that might pressure him or her into declining to accept a regular Presidential paycheck from the federal government, meaning that his or her job will be re-defined as "charity work", so to speak? Also, are you yourself planning to deduct from your personal income taxes the total time and effort you spend in the White House, since you yourself may now be claiming it as "charity work" you are doing for the sake of philanthropy?

(3) Are you completely sure, Mr. President, that your designation of your new job as "charity work" won't undermine your ability to devote 100 percent effort at all times toward this very serious new role you have, a role that affects the personal safety and quality of life of billions of people all over the world?

And if you end up resenting the federal government for paying you the $1 or zero dollars per year, I believe you have stated as your so-called "income" in the White House, even though it was the level of compensation you yourself asked for, might this also undermine your ability to devote 100 percent effort at all times toward your new job as President?

(4) Are you a scholar of the American presidency, and if not, do you plan to enroll in a crash course on the history of the U.S. Presidency in order to draw upon strategies you like that previous Presidents have wisely pursued? Also, who will be your crash-course instructor on the history of the Presidency, if you do choose to learn more about the history of the Presidency ASAP?

(5) Is it perfectly clear to you at this time that your Presidency will be limited to no more than four years? Or are you entertaining the possibility that you might actually run for re-election in 2020?

(6) In view of the distinct likelihood that yours will be a Presidency of four years, at most, and many members of Congress of course also believe this is the case, do you agree that this makes it all the more imperative that you consistently show full respect toward any and all members of Congress from either major political party throughout your undeniably brief tenure in the White House, with yourself having an obvious need to exhibit a bipartisan statesmanship at all times in view of your time limitations?

(7) Historians of the Presidency might point out that you are the oldest person ever to assume office as U.S. President. Will this legal and medical fact about yourself have any bearing on how you conduct yourself? Will you take frequent naps in the White House, as President Reagan, a previous President you admire quite a bit, habitually did during his meetings with Cabinet secretaries in which he reportedly dozed off in the middle of discussions?

(8) When your Presidency finally comes to an end, regardless of whether that occurs four years from now or before then should you ever decide to resign in disgust or in disgrace, how do you want to be remembered in the history books of this country? For instance, do you want Presidential historians to sum up your Presidency as one in which you brought the United States closer to Russia, as perhaps your leading accomplishment? If so, which new treaty between the United States and Russia, a treaty that your friend Vladimir Putin might also like, do you plan to seek on behalf of your "Alliance with Russia Project", as you might yourself refer to it?

(8a) If a nuclear war ever breaks out during your Administration, and let us all hope that it won't, do you ever imagine a scenario in which a military alliance you possibly hope to forge between the United States and Russia would then jointly defeat mainland China? In that scenario you possibly have in the back of your mind as our new head of state, do you imagine yourself after a peace treaty is signed with the vanquished Chinese Government, then personally proposing a non-alcoholic toast of some type, since you reportedly are teetotaler, to your friend Mr. Putin inside the Kremlin after the two of you in that scenario somehow succeed at jointly defeating the Chinese? And in that scenario, which country, the U.S. or Russia, would then send in troops to occupy the vanquished nation of China, as you see it?

(9) Do you believe it to be anti-American, and possibly a form of treason against the United States Government, if an American citizen ever publicly criticizes Vladimir Putin or the Russian Government in a manner that you regard as being excessive or impolite or disrespectful?

(10) How much progress do you expect to achieve on behalf of eliminating the budgetary deficit that the federal government of the United States currently has? Are you planning to ask your friend Mr. Putin to help you come up with ideas on how to reduce our own nation's budgetary deficit?

(11) Do you believe that the President of the United States should spend more time than President Obama did in holding one-to-one Presidential meetings in the Oval Office with chief executive officers of for-profit corporations that are headquartered either in the United States or in a favorite foreign country of yours, such as Russia?

(12) Do you agree with then-Secretary of State John Foster Dulles, who famously observed during the Administration of President Eisenhower in the 1950s that "What's good for General Motors, is good for this country", or words to that effect?

(13) Do you agree with those who say that offering as many forms of energy-efficient mass-transportation  services as possible throughout this entire nation will help to protect the national security of American society for two major reasons---first, by conserving fossil fuels, and second, by providing back-up transportation systems in the event of natural-disaster-related or terrorism-related destruction to any particular roadway or other transportation system in this nation?

A PROGRESSIVE PROHIBITIONIST RELIGION TENTATIVE BRAINSTORMING IDEA FOR THE NEXT U.S. PRESIDENT: OFFER FINANCIAL INCENTIVES TO PALESTINIANS AND JEWISH PERSONS RESIDING IN PALESTINIAN-GOVERNED TERRITORY OR ISRAEL, RESPECTIVELY, TO RELOCATE TO A FRIENDLY FOREIGN NATION THAT CAN SUSTAIN AN INFLUX OF NEW IMMIGRANTS

It seems likely that the environment itself apparently cannot sustain significant population growth in the Middle Eastern region where Israel and the Palestinian-governed territory currently lie.

For this and other reasons, would it possibly make sense for a humane and democratic foreign nation that adamantly opposes discrimination against or threats to the personal safety of honorable Palestinians and honorable Jewish citizens of Israel, respectively, to offer a possible new refuge in their own country for current Palestinians and Israeli citizens seeking a much safer place where the environment can sustain an influx of new immigrants?

This "refuge for immigrants" idea was prompted in part by the current focus by many nations on offering a possible safe home for Arabs fleeing from violence-torn nations such as Afghanistan or Iraq.

It seems to this observer that if a refuge for Arabs fleeing from Arab militants is urgently needed,  then a refuge offering "breathing room" and a safer place in which to live should also be offered, although for different reasons, to honorable Palestinians currently living in the Palestinian-governed territory and also to honorable Jewish persons who may feel unsafe in their current nation of Israel, and who may sense that the tiny size of Israel's territory and the semi-arid environment there cannot sustain significant population growth in Israel, either.

This massive and very humane relocation of  many Palestinians and many Israelis to a foreign nation that is friendly toward them, might also help to reduce the number of conflicts in the Middle East between those Palestinians and Israelis, respectively, who remain in the Palestine-governed territory or in Israel, respectively.

WILL THE NEXT U.S. PRESIDENT, WHOSE NAME IS REPORTEDLY 'DONALD TRUMP', OFFER RECOMMENDATIONS TO THE U.S. CONGRESS ON HOW TO INCREASE FINANCIAL INCENTIVES FOR CORPORATIONS AND OTHER BUSINESSES TO PURSUE SOCIETALLY-BENEFICIAL VENTURES THAT INCUR A SHORT-TERM REDUCTION IN PROFIT BUT A LONG-TERM INCREASE IN NET PROFIT?

An inevitable question on the minds of many Americans as they reflect on whether the very next U.S. President will pursue a wise course of action in the following way:

Which strategies, if any, will the incoming U.S. President, with Donald Trump reportedly holding that distinction, offer the United States Congress that are designed to reward corporations and other businesses for the short-term expenses they incur from such offerings as:

--establishing a comprehensive random-drug-testing program for all of their employees at any and all of their workplaces.

--offering comprehensive wellness and preventive-medicine healthful-living programs for all of their employees.

--offering generous paid leaves of absence to employees who are either pregnant or mothers or fathers raising a baby or other young child inside their own home.

---offering any and all employees the opportunity to purchase stock, if applicable, in their own company.

---offering generous retirement plans for each of their employees.

--increasing reliance on renewable energy sources to power their properties.

--sponsoring comprehensive energy-efficiency audits at each of their properties.

--establishing comprehensive trash-recycling programs at each of their properties that involve the recycling of any and all glass, paper, plastic products, etc., that that company.

--paying for comprehensive property-security audits that identify any and all security weaknesses, such as possible illegal points of entry, at each of the properties owned by that corporation or other business?

"Dear Texas DPS Public Information Coordinator,

"This is a Texas Open Records request in which I seek to obtain from your state agency in Austin a copy of any and all written communications, including E-mail communications or reports or letters or memoranda or arrest records, that referred to myself, John Kevin McMillan of Austin, in any manner or context, and that were each written or generated or received or forwarded or sent or mailed or e-mailed or FAXed at any time since 12:01 a.m. April 17, 2011, by any staff member or administrator or trooper or detective or official or attorney employed in the 'Texas Department of Public Safety Intelligence and CounterTerrorism' unit in Austin.

"This public information request was prompted by an E-mail letter generated by your state agency that I recently obtained from the UT-Austin Police Department through a public-information request I submitted this year to UT-Austin's Administration.

"I am referring to the E-mail letter that Charles McInnis, a 'Program Supervisor II' employed in your state agency's 'Intelligence and CounterTerrorism' unit, wrote on June 27, 2012, in which he referred to myself by name and correctly cited my full exact Texas driver's license number.

"My legal name is John Kevin McMillan. I was born on April 27, 1957, at Lincoln, Nebraska.

"---Crossland Economy Studios, 12621 Hymeadow Road, Room 133, Austin, Texas, 78729. I officially resided at this particular Extended Stay America hotel and efficiency apartments facility in Williamson County, Texas, from July 29, 2015, until late September 2015.

"---Village Oaks Apartments, 10926 Jollyville Road, Building 9, Apt. 902, Austin, Texas, 78759. I have resided in this unit as an official rent-paying single adult male tenant and as an apartment-management-team-approved official roommate of Mr. 'Brett Andrew Meyer', a self-identified 'currently registered official student at Austin Community College', ever since late September 2015.

THE NEW EMPEROR OF AMERICA HAS NO CLOTHES: THE PUBLIC SPECTACLE OF THIS BOLDLY REGAL BILLIONAIRE ABOUT TO BE SWORN IN AS PRESIDENT

(1) It is impossible to reflect on the legacy of the incoming U.S. President, Donald Trump, without recalling the famous story of the emperor who has no clothes.

The naked truth is that Donald Trump has no prior experience in elective office. And every day of his one total term of elective office, millions of persons throughout the world will each be watching our nation's elegantly attired head of state on television news reports and declare, "This emperor of America has no clothes!"

The one consolation from it all is that people the world over will be fascinated and entertained and possibly even humored by the public spectacle of defacto nudism that Donald Trump will clearly present to the entire world on a daily and year-round and possibly multi-year basis.

(2) A Donald Trump in the White House means that every day of his one total term in that elective office, he will be getting irate phone calls from tenants of his in Manhattan and elsewhere who demand to know why their toilet was not properly repaired by the maintenance staff for Mr. Trump.

How Mr. Trump plans to juggle his role as Landlord to the World with his new apparent role as Lord of America, is unclear. It is likely, in fact, that in his first State of the Union address, Mr. Trump will depart from his prepared script in order to gleefully note that "I'm proud to say that our maintenance staff repaired 1,000 toilets last week alone", before President Trump is suddenly reminded by one of his attentive aides standing near the TV camera that his seemingly clever ad-lib referred to Trump Enterprises, and not to any actual accomplishments by the federal government that Mr. Trump ostensibly heads.

(3) Any day now, some fashion magazine will be profiling Donald Trump in terms of his having "dressed for success" in the Presidential Campaign. The focus will be on which fashion designers should be given credit for Donald Trump's triumph on election day.

And one angle being pursued by fashion journalists will obviously be that Mr. Trump was wearing just the right business suit on Election Day to earn his first-ever position of elective office in his entire life.  That business suit, the magazines will breathlessly note, was "Donald Trump's Triumphant Fashion Statement on Just the Right Day, Election Day," as Gentleman's Quarterly might possibly declare.

(4) You have to feel a lot of sympathy for each of he leading corporate business rivals of Donald Trump who are painfully aware these days that auditing of their financial records during the Trump Presidency will be twice as extensive and twice as criminal-prosecution-minded as during the pre-Trump era. Those business rivals of Mr. Trump no doubt grimly refer to his presidency as "TRO", or "Trump's Revenge Opportunity."

(5) It seems that our entire nation has now entered the Trump Era. Whether the Trump Era lasts an entire four years, or even four months or a mere four weeks or just four days before Donald Trump resigns in disgrace, is impossible to say.

There are many Americans who seem to look upon the Trump Presidency as nothing but a prelude to impeachment hearings.

That outlook might be unfair, though, since it seems to be generated by persons who believe in Voodoo Politics. They are hoping that if they put a hex on our incoming head of state, Mr. Trump will suffer the curse of scandal so severe he is blown away from D.C. through a metaphorical hurricane of outrage that forces him to retreat. And his retreat, ironically, is expected to be to the very U.S. state, Florida, that is most associated with hurricanes of the non-figurative type.

SOME SUGGESTED LINES THAT JERRY SEINFELD AND OTHER STAND-UP COMEDIANS MIGHT WANT TO USE IN DESCRIBING THE SPECTACLE OF DONALD TRUMP IN THE WHITE HOUSE AS AMERICA's HEAD OF STATE

(1) If any of you are wondering where Donald likes to hang out in New York these days, I bet you 100 rubles that you'll find him inside the Russian Tea Room practicing the fine art of giving a Russian-style kiss to the derriere of  Vladimir Putin.

(2) Everyone's talking about the advisors whom Donald Trump is adding to his White House team. But no one has commented yet on who he plans to hire for in-house dieting consultant. The first thing that dieting expert should tell Donald is to cut the caviar immediately. It seems that Donald has been stuffing his face with caviar for so many weeks of the Presidential campaign that it's damaged his girlish figure.

(3) The best news about Donald Trump as President is that he's reportedly sober at all times. That means that any decision he makes, he cannot claim an "I was drunk in the Oval Office, so I wasn't responsible for my actions" excuse in a court of law when he gets sued for a bad decision. His dead-serious style in the Oval Office will call to mind for everyone a novel by Truman Capote. That book was entitled "In Cold Blood" and it featured the alcohol-free massacre of numerous innocent Americans in Kansas.

(4) Things are getting so cozy between the United States and Russia these days that I understand that President-elect Trump plans to ask Congress to approve a new law requiring celebration of a "Caviar Appreciation Day" on an annual basis throughout our entire country.

(5) Everyone is expecting President Trump to compete with Vladimir Putin in a friendly game of chess when Trump pays his first official visit to Moscow. Despite this, no media company has confirmed that Donald Trump knows how to play chess. Checkers seems to be more his cup of tea. That's understandable, since he's certainly had a checkered past.

(6) Many of us are looking forward to the millions of Presidential tweets that Donald Trump is expected to generate while in the Oval Office. He's determined to be the first American President who generates 1,000 clever tweets per week about what his latest opinion or whim happens to be. It seems that Trump has decided this is the best way for him to get mentioned by name in the history books 100 years after his one total term of office is finally over. Many believe that future historians will summarize his Presidency with tweet-style brevity by stating, 'Congress told Mr. Trump: 'You're fired!'"

(7) I don't agree with those who say that Donald Trump's addiction to generating tweets identifies him as a "tweety-bird".  I think it's unfair to call him a Bird Brain in the Oval Office. He's clearly a notch above our avian friends in intellect----which is very reassuring news for our entire country, unless you believe that a "Near Bird-Brain in the Oval Office" implies that a sub-human intellect is somehow perched in the Presidency. Let's hope he can give us all a pleasant-sounding near-chirp, at least.

(8) Some of us are expecting President Trump to make a quick trip to Puerto Rico in January, in order to prove that he respects the Puerto Ricans of New York City. But the obvious reply is that his trip to Puerto Rico would have the opposite effect. It would be like Donald from thousands of mile away in the Caribbean flipping the bird at all the Puerto Ricans in New York City, and then sending them a postcard that declares, "Wish you were here, and not there! Adios Con Amor, Donald"

Donald does have a way of gloating with glee, you will notice if you pay close attention to his Presidential style.
