I am very grateful to Capital Metro for hiring and stationing cleaning crews in north Austin at the N. Lamar Transit Center at the intersection of North Lamar Boulevard and Research Boulevard. Their very prompt and efficient work helps to reduce the risk of transmission of the COVID-19 virus to passengers and drivers on Cap Metro buses here in Austin. The cleaning crew members stationed at the North Lamar Transit Center routinely board a bus immediately after a bus has stopped at that transit center. They then very efficiently wipe and clean all major touch-points on that bus, including posts. Their cleaning and sanitizing work on each bus generally is completed within four or five minutes' time (an approximation on my part, since I did not time this on my watch). Steven, a supervisor for the cleaning crew stationed at that transit center, told me on June 20, 2020, that the cleaning solution they use contains "Clorox" as a major ingredient. (Clorox is the registered trademark for a brand of cleaning product manufactured by a for-profit corporation headquartered in Oakland, California.) Cap Metro also employs a cleaning crew at the Tech Ridge station in north Austin, among other locations in Austin, Steven said. Anyone seeking to work for pay on a cleaning crew stationed at a Cap Metro transit center in Austin can check the Cap Metro website to find out if there are any current job vacancies for that type of position, Steven said. The website address for contacting Cap Metro about that type of job opportunity is: https://www.capmetro.org/service-providers/ .
