One question that should be posed to U.S. President Barack Obama at a press coference in the very near future is simply this:
PRESIDENT OBAMA, CAN YOU OFFER ME A RELIABLE ESTIMATE ON WHAT PERCENTAGE OF ALL AMERICAN CITIZENS OF TODAY HAVE NEVER BEEN CONVICTED OF ANY FELONY CRIME AT ANY TIME IN THEIR ENTIRE LIFE?
HOW DOES THAT PERCENTAGE COMPARE WITH 10 YEARS AGO, 20 YEARS AGO, OR 50 YEARS AGO?
Some follow-up questions that could and should be posed to President Obama during a Press Conference of that type might be:
---President Obama, do you know what percentage of all Americans of today have been convicted of having committed a violent felony crime? How does that percentage compare with 10 or 20 or 50 years ago?
---President Obama, why is it that you almost never talk publicly about crimes inside this country and crime statistics relating to crimes committed by American citizens within the U.S.A. who have not themselves been identified as terrorists per se?
---President Obama, would you support the establishment of an independently-endowed financial fund that could be drawn from each year to award a $1 million prize to the American citizen or non-profit group or business entity in the United States that during the most recent 12-month period offered the best suggestion or idea on behalf of lowering the rate of recidivism among Americans who have been convicted of committing a felony crime or misdemeanor crime.
--President Obama, in view of the widespread incidence of pathological dishonesty in America today, would you support the establishment of a special category of felony crime that would exclusively consist of felony crimes involving specifically cited pathological dishonesty or mendacity. I am referring to the felony crime from providing others with fraudulent medical care services, the felony crime from providing others with fraudulent informational services, the felony crime of insurance fraud, the felony crime of forgery, the felony crime of perjury resulting from dishonest courtroom testimony, etc.
--President Obama, would you support establishment of an advisory committee to review the current state and federal pedal codes relating to terrorism-related crimes, including, I might add, terroristic theats as a hideous category of crime all too common in American society today.
--President Obama, would you please tell me what percentage of all felony crimes and what percentage of all misdemeanor crimes in the United States for which a conviction occurred last year in a court of law in the United States, were, in fact, crimes in which the person found guilty of that crime was either high on illicit drugs or intoxicated from an alcoholic beverage at the time when he committed that crime.
Mr. President, if you don't know the answer to that two-part question, do you at least believe that this is the type of factual statistic that the President of the United States should have immediate and year-round access to through data bases provided to himself in The White House?
---President Obama, do you support the proposed establishment of a non-profit group that is exclusively designed to provide counseling services to and generously befriend persons who are either friends or relatives of someone they suspect of being an illicit-drug dealer. At present, I myself am not aware of any nationwide non-profit "support group," if you could call it that, for the relatives or friends of ilicit-drug dealers.
---President Obama, particularly in view of the growing threat of terrorism linked to injurious anonymous communications from complete strangers, do you believe the United States Government is doing enough to monitor any and all sources of anonymous communications occurring in this country?
---President Obama, are you satisfied with the current level of accuracy and reliability of computer data readily available to the federal government that provides you and your federal colleagues with nationwide statistics, as well as statistics by multi-state region and by state and by city and by urban area, about the incidence of reported crime and criminal-conviction-related matters in this country? For instance, can you tell me what percentage of all adult Americans of today have no criminal-conviction record?
Mr. President, I guess my question on this is whether you believe there's an urgent need for updating and improving and expanding the criminal-law data base available to the federal government? Do you propose additional federal funding toward that goal?
---President Obama, do you recall the last occasion when you yourself or your wife, First Lady Michelle Obama, dialed 911 in order to report evidence of possible alleged criminal conduct you yourself or Michelle Obama had directly observed? Since you emphasize that the President should practice good citizenship skills, do you plan to continue calling 911 on a habitual basis to report evidence of possible criminal conduct you've directly observed during your tenure as President?
---President Obama, do you know the category of felony crime, if any, for which it has been the most difficult for a law-enforcement agency in the U.S., such as the Federal Bureau of Investigation, to obtain DNA legal evidence on behalf of apprehending a suspect and helping to convict a cited defendant in a court of law? Do you support increased federal funding for forensics-science research aimed at increasing the number of felony crimes for which DNA evidence can be routinely and without any difficulty obtained by a law-enforcement agency in this country.
---President Obama, do you know whether any of the state laws prohibiting "hate crimes" specifically protect senior citizens as a group from being victimized by a "hate crime" in which a younger person, such as a teenage male person in Florida, for instance, might shout "I hate you, Old Geezer!" before physically assaulting a senior citizen in Florida in an unconscionable manner. How common are hate crimes in which senior citizens are specifically targeted for that type of deplorable inter-generational abuse involving the commission of a crime.
---Mr. President, do you believe that American society currently has adequate penalties imposed on Americans for retaliating against an individual who had called 911 and cited evidence indicating that they themselves possibly violated the state penal code through their own conduct.
--President Obama, would you please tell me which U.S. state currently has the highest violent crime rate? Do you believe that U.S. state has a particular need for additional federal funding aimed at helping to reduce that state's violent crime rate?
--President Obama, do you expect that the rapid increase in inter-state communications being fostered by the E-mail communications revolution in this nation will also bring with it a need for massive increases in the operations budget for the Federal Bureau of Investigation?
I am referring to inter-state communications (a resident of Denver, Colorado, for instance, who sends a profanity-filled and allegedly illegal E-mail letter to a resident of Wilmington, Delaware, that results in that Delaware resident filing a criminal-law charge against that Denver resident, with help from the Federal Bureau of Investigation) that appear to comprise a crime.
---President Obama, would you support a new federal law imposing the same cited minimum age nationwide in which a teenage American of high school age can have carnal relations or have sex with an adult person without that sexual activity being illegal in nature and classified as a sex crime? At present, as I'm sure you must be painfully aware, a few states have laws designating that minimum age as 16; other states, such as Texas, designate that minimum age as 17; still other states designate that minimum age as 18. Wouldn't it be more helpful on behalf of promoting full and consistent nationwide compliance with anti-pederasty laws, if the federal government were to impose a nationwide minimum age of 17, say, as the minimum age in which a young person can have mutual-consent sex with an adult person without the adult person himself (or herself) being guilty of statutory rape.
---President Obama, can you tell me how many environmental-crime convictions occurred last year in a court of law in the United States of America? Do you believe that the federal government's data bases for records of that type currently provide adequate nationwide statistics that can be helpful to public policy makers at the federal level? Also, do you support the establishment of an advisory commission to review all existing environmental-crimes laws and make recommendations on how those environmental-crimes laws could be revised to be more responsive to the needs of American society in the 21st Century.
---President Obama, do you believe that American citizens who have no criminal-conviction record or who have no felony-conviction record, at least, should qualify for a financial reward of some type through our nation's tax system? If so, how would you like to see that type of financial reward being offered?
---President Obama, do you believe the U.S. Government should do more than it currently does to provide recognition and rewards to individual Americans with felony conviction records who, during a post-prison time period in which they are no longer incarcerated, have gone 10 consecutive years without being charged with and convicted of committing any misdemeanor or any felony crime by any law-enforcement agency in the entire United States.
